Vegetable base smart glass greenhouse: Zhangjiagang Municipal Agriculture Commission conducts on-site survey
On the afternoon of December 28, Tao Xiao, deputy director of the Vegetable Office of the Zhangjiagang Municipal Agriculture Commission, and his delegation visited the Yonglian Tiantianxian vegetable base in Nanfeng Town to survey the production situation of the base's smart glass greenhouse.
The survey team successively visited the ordinary steel-pipe greenhouse and the smart glass greenhouse. Technician Liu of the vegetable base said that the steel-frame glass greenhouse, covering an area of 2.96 mu, began construction in March this year, with an investment of about 1 million yuan, and was put into use in October this year. The current batch of four varieties of cherry tomatoes - Pink Pearl, Zixia, Sunshine and Chuanfen - have now begun to set fruit one after another, and are expected to ripen and go on the market around the Spring Festival. The glass greenhouse is fully equipped, not only with steam heating pipes, but also with fan-and-wet-pad cooling, making it warm in winter and cool in summer, allowing uninterrupted planting throughout the year. All vegetable planting in the glass greenhouse uses coconut coir substrate cultivation, equipped with drip irrigation facilities, and applies integrated water and fertilizer technology. In the future, the preparation of fertilizer solution, irrigation and fertilization, and process monitoring will all be fully automated, so that irrigation and fertilization can be easily completed with a click of the mouse in the control room. The glass greenhouse uses waste heat from steelmaking by Yonggang Group to heat the greenhouse, and the water and fertilizer are also recycled, featuring water saving, fertilizer saving, energy saving and environmental protection.
Director Tao Xiao of the Vegetable Office of the Municipal Agriculture Commission fully affirmed the current production status of the smart glass greenhouse at the Tiantianxian vegetable base, and also put forward constructive suggestions, hoping to add a rail-mounted mobile ladder facility inside the greenhouse to facilitate future picking work.
