[Introduction·China Vegetable Network]As one of the most basic daily necessities, vegetables directly affect consumers' health and safety. At last year's fourth session of the third Chizhou Municipal CPPCC, the Jiusan Society Chizhou Municipal Primary Committee submitted the "Proposal on Strengthening Vegetable Quality and Safety Supervision," mainly addressing the major problems existing in the current production and sale of vegetables on the market and putting forward a series of effective suggestions and countermeasures.

Tong Zhili, a member of the Jiusan Society Chizhou Municipal Primary Committee, said in an interview with reporters: Food is the first necessity of the people, and safety comes first in food. At present, as residents' living standards rise rapidly, more people pay attention to a balance of meat and vegetables, and at the dining table they want not only to eat well but also to eat healthily. Therefore, strengthening vegetable quality and safety supervision is particularly important.

Reporters learned that, in response to the proposal's calls to strengthen the construction of safe vegetable production bases, accelerate the work of vegetable origin exit permission and market access, prevent unsafe vegetables from entering the market, accelerate the promotion and application of advanced and applicable technologies, and establish and improve a vegetable product quality and safety supervision and management mechanism, the Chizhou Municipal Agriculture Commission has actively promoted the construction of relevant systems. Yang Kaiwen, full-time deputy director of the Chizhou Municipal Agriculture Commission's Vegetable Basket Project Office, told reporters: “First, we vigorously grasp the construction of the accountability system, formulate the 'Chizhou Municipal Vegetable Safety Supervision Responsibility System and Accountability System,' strengthen the implementation of the quality and safety responsibility system, and strengthen territorial management; gradually advance the implementation of the vegetable market access system, issue the 'Chizhou Municipal Vegetable Market Access Implementation Measures,' drive origin exit permission through market access, and strictly control the base export gate and the market access gate; strengthen the construction of the quality and safety traceability system, establish and improve a database of production conditions at vegetable production bases, improve the production archive and packaging labeling systems, and encode places of origin and products.”

At the same time, the Municipal Agriculture Commission has accelerated the pace of formulating and revising agricultural standards and specifications, created agricultural standardized demonstration bases, and, in conjunction with the construction of modern agricultural parks, vigorously supported leading enterprises, specialized farmer cooperative organizations, science and technology demonstration households, and large-scale farming households in taking the lead in achieving standardized production. It is understood that in 2015 our city created 2 national-level vegetable standard gardens and 2 provincial-level vegetable standard gardens, and continuously improved the coverage and driving effect of standardized production. It has strengthened vegetable brand building, increased supervision of certified brands, supplemented this with certain policy support, and fully leveraged the advantages of branding in driving standardization and advancing industrialization. “In addition, we have also strengthened supervision of agricultural inputs, vigorously promoted the application of green integrated pest management technology, and reduced pesticide use. Last year, 4 new vegetable pesticide residue testing laboratories were built at vegetable bases, and the city completed more than 3,000 routine vegetable sampling inspections, with the pass rate for pesticide residue testing remaining above 98%.” Yang Kaiwen told reporters.
