Danjiangkou City Deepens the Advancement of Germplasm Resource Survey and Collection Work

First, strengthen leadership and organize meticulously. The bureau established a leading group for the Third National Crop Germplasm Resource Survey and Collection Action, with an office set up under it to take full charge of the germplasm resource survey and collection work, formulated an action implementation plan, clarified tasks and refined responsibilities, assigned 6 dedicated staff members, and equipped 1 specially designated vehicle, achieving the “four in place” of funding, vehicles, personnel and equipment, ensuring the smooth progress of the action.

Second, carry out training and improve capabilities. The bureau assigned 2 key technical staff to attend the provincial training session on the germplasm resource survey and collection action, and afterward promptly, in accordance with requirements, conducted survey knowledge training for the staff involved in the survey and collection work, explaining in detail document and material review, resource classification, information collection, data reporting, sample collection and other content, thereby improving the working capabilities of the survey personnel.

Third, vigorously publicize and create an atmosphere. After launching the germplasm resource survey, the bureau extensively publicized this survey and collection work by holding training sessions, distributing publicity materials and conducting household surveys, and promptly published the progress of the action on the Danjiangkou City Government Network, Shiyan Agricultural Information Network, Hubei Agricultural Information Network, China Agricultural Extension Network and other websites, thereby expanding awareness of the resource survey and collection work.

Fourth, manage strictly and improve efficiency. The bureau formulated management measures for special funds for the survey and collection work, exercised strict management in the use and disbursement of funds, ensured earmarked funds were used for their designated purposes, ensured that fund management was in place, and improved the efficiency of fund use.

Up to now, the city has collected a total of 39 ancient, rare varieties with local characteristics, including 3 rice varieties, 11 corn varieties, 1 mung bean variety, 6 local soybean varieties, 13 vegetable varieties and 5 miscellaneous grain varieties.
