Winter wheat and rapeseed planting area in Fenghua, Zhejiang has reached more than 15,000 mu
On the afternoon of December 22, in the contracted fields of Jiang Fude, a major grain grower in Shiqiao Natural Village, Xiwu Street, Fenghua, Zhejiang Province, this writer saw more than 10 farmers hurrying to fertilize and sow wheat. As of the 22nd, Old Jiang had sown more than 900 mu of wheat, with plans to sow 1,000 mu, and it was expected that the sowing task would be completed after another two days. According to statistics from the Fenghua City Agricultural Machinery Management Station, Fenghua City had sown more than 11,000 mu of wheat and more than 4,000 mu of rapeseed.
Since the late rice harvest this year, continuous cloudy and rainy weather had seriously affected wheat sowing. In order to sow wheat early and achieve a high yield of spring grain, some time ago the Fenghua City Agriculture and Forestry Bureau organized more than 60 middle- and senior-level agricultural technicians from the Fenghua City Agricultural Technology Service Central Station, the Agricultural Machinery Management Station, and the Seed Management Station to go deep into the fields and provide technical “special tutoring” for grain-growing farmers, guiding them face to face in doing a good job of wheat sowing and rapeseed transplanting techniques. With the help of agricultural technology experts, Gubao Grain Professional Cooperative seized the clear weather to sow more than 800 mu of wheat. At present, the cooperative organizes more than 10 laborers every day to dig trenches and drain water from the sown wheat to prevent seedling rot. At the same time, 25 kg of compound fertilizer is applied per mu to promote wheat growth and ensure safe overwintering. Tu Caijun, a major grain grower in Zhuangxia Village, Qiu Village Town, had never planted wheat before. This year, as soon as wheat sowing began, technicians from the Fenghua City Agricultural Machinery Management Station went to the fields many times to provide technical guidance, control the amount of seed used, dig deep trenches in relatively muddy fields, and apply overwintering fertilizer well. At present, the sowing of 200 mu of wheat has been completed with high standards and high quality. Under the guidance of technicians from the City Seed Management Station, Mao Shanquan of Hetou Village, Jinping Street, sowed more than 200 mu of wheat this year for the first time.
It is understood that this year Fenghua City completed the harvest of 90,000 mu of late rice and planned to sow about 15,000 mu of wheat, with the sowing task expected to be completed this week.
