Hotan lawfully investigates and handles counterfeit and inferior seeds, standardizing and purifying the seed market
On December 22, Hotan Prefecture held an on-site warning education meeting on “lawfully investigating and handling counterfeit and inferior seeds and standardizing and purifying the seed market,” at which 3,000 kg of fake corn seeds that had been packaged and sold without meeting the requirements of laws and regulations were crushed on site.
In recent years, the whole prefecture has vigorously pursued seed engineering construction, ensuring the supply of improved varieties and the safety of seed use for all crops throughout the prefecture. This year, the area of wheat “three nurseries and one field” established and managed throughout the prefecture reached 81,467 mu. The supply of seeds for wheat, corn, rice, cotton, melons and vegetables was sufficient, and the coverage rate of improved varieties all reached above 98%. Seed law enforcement was further standardized, effectively safeguarding the healthy and orderly development of the seed market and ensuring the safety of agricultural seed use.
Aili · Maimaitiming, deputy head of the prefecture seed station, introduced that the convening of this on-site warning education meeting further upheld the dignity of the Seed Law of the People's Republic of China and raised the legal awareness of personnel in the prefecture engaged in crop seed agency and commissioned sales business. In the future, the prefecture seed department will take the Seed Law and its supporting regulations as its standard, fully perform its seed management functions, persist in administration according to law, and supervise at the source, to build a “lawful, safe, and superior” seed market, and to implement with practical action a series of arrangements and deployments of the central government and the autonomous region concerning modern agriculture.
