Detailed Explanation of Key Technical Points for Artificial Breeding of Snapping Turtles
The snapping turtle is the most ancient extant reptile, one of the world's largest freshwater turtles, and is known as the king of freshwater animals. It is divided into two major types, commonly known as the large snapping turtle and the small snapping turtle. 1. Good environmental factors. Aquatic turtles live in water; the water depth for raising turtles is generally slightly higher than the turtle's shell, and it does not need to be too deep, at most no more than 2 times the height of the shell. It is best to provide a rock that rises above the water surface so the turtle can climb up to bask its shell; turtles need sunlight. If kept completely indoors, they should be allowed to bask in the sun regularly, for more than ten minutes each day. It is recommended to keep them in a southeast-facing place where they can receive about 1-2 hours of sunlight (long periods of direct sunlight are not needed), and provide shade conditions (a small wooden board can be placed on top of the tank to provide partial shade) to prevent heatstroke. In summer, pay attention to preventing algae growth in the tank; you can buy algae remover, which is generally sold in ordinary aquarium stores. Small stones or large cobblestones can be laid on the bottom of the tank. However, if they are laid, it will be very troublesome when changing the water, so beginners are advised to use a bare tank, that is, with nothing laid down. Do not put aquatic plants in the water.
The snapping turtle is the most ancient extant reptile, one of the world's largest freshwater turtles, and is known as the king of freshwater animals. Do not put aquatic plants in the water.

2. Good water quality.

Given high-density intensive turtle farming conditions, turtles have relatively high food intake and excrement output, and the water temperature is also relatively high. Even if the feed provided is green feed, it still fouls the water quality relatively quickly, and more harmful substances are easily produced in the water body, especially ammoniated nitrite and H2S, which are more harmful. By spraying and applying photosynthetic bacteria at the bottom, water quality can be effectively improved and harmful substances reduced. Each time new pond water is added, apply 10×10-6 to 15×10-6 photosynthetic bacteria at the same time; changing water is also an effective way to regulate water quality. At a water depth of about 20 cm, it can be changed once a day, and at a water depth of 30 cm, it can be changed once every 2 days. Never fail to change the water for many days, and do not let the water body give off a foul odor. Every 7 to 10 days, quicklime can be sprinkled once at a concentration of 70×10-6, and care should be taken to apply it alternately with photosynthetic bacteria, not at the same time.

3. Control of water temperature.

Snapping turtles like to live in clean water environments. Therefore, during the rearing process, attention should be paid to replacing the water with new water. Moreover, to ensure the survival rate of snapping turtles, the stability of the water temperature environment must be maintained. Scientific regulation of water temperature directly affects the weight gain and survival rate of adult turtle farming. When snapping turtles are kept at 18°C-20°C for a long time, their growth rate is several times slower than at the optimal growth water temperature of 30°C-31°C. Therefore, the water temperature for raising turtles must be maintained within 30°C-31°C. On the other hand, when a turtle pond is being refilled with water or is exposed to the outside and happens to encounter severe weather such as heavy rain or sudden temperature changes, precautions should be taken in time, and every effort should be made to avoid water temperature fluctuations greater than 2°C.

4. Feed feeding.

Snapping turtles have fairly omnivorous feeding habits; fish, loach, meat, and so on can all become their food. When feeding snapping turtles, the amount of compound feed is generally 1.5%-2.5% of the snapping turtle's total body weight, and the amount of fresh live feed is 5%-10%. Feed 3 times a day at fixed times and in fixed amounts, and the range of food provided should be even and broad.

5. Hibernation issues of snapping turtles.

Every year from October to May of the following year, when the temperature drops below 13°C, the turtle begins to hibernate until the temperature rises to 18 degrees and it ends. A hibernating turtle does not eat or move, and only sleeps. The simplest hibernation method is to move the turtle indoors to a dark and quiet place and let it hibernate in shallow water (water just above the shell), changing the water once a month. Apart from changing the water, try not to disturb the turtle. Be careful that the temperature does not fall below 6 degrees, otherwise the turtle's life will be endangered. However, it is recommended to use a heating rod in winter, because the mortality rate of natural hibernation is very high. A heating rod is the kind used for raising tropical fish; set the temperature at around 30 degrees and put a lid on the tank.

Technical Key Points for Parent Turtle Breeding in Snapping Turtle Farming
The site for the parent snapping turtle rearing pond should be chosen in a quiet, sunny, wind-sheltered place, and especially should avoid being near quarries, airports, etc. The rearing pond is generally required to be 1-1.5 m deep; the shape can be square or round, and the area is not limited. On one side of the pond, leave an area
