How to Keep a Hybrid Alligator Snapping Turtle? Breeding Methods and Precautions
The Florida snapping turtle has a peculiar appearance, with a triangular head, a grayish-brown top scattered with small black spots and several small spiky protrusions, and a head that cannot be fully retracted into its shell. At present, keeping hybrid alligator snapping turtles has become a new favorite among turtle keepers. So how do you keep a hybrid alligator snapping turtle?
1. How to Keep a Hybrid Alligator Snapping Turtle
1. Prepare a tank, then add water; the water height depends on the size of your turtle. If it is a small turtle, water 10 cm above the carapace is enough, then put in a heater, set the temperature to 25 degrees, and add a filter to suck up the droppings. As for food, small fish and meat are both fine, and that is all there is to it.
2. The staple food of the hybrid alligator snapping turtle is fish; you can feed shrimp and small fish, and once it is a bit bigger you can feed loaches, frogs and the like.
3. Keep the ambient temperature stable and the water chlorine high. Give it appropriate sun exposure, maintain a stable environment and minimize vibration. Hybrids and alligator snapping turtles can be kept together, but the size difference between the two should not be too great. When they are juveniles they can be kept together, but when they grow up they must be kept separately. If kept together, the space must be large enough, and you must make sure each of them has its own space to move around.
