Preliminary Report on the Breeding of Dongxuewang Tao, a New Extremely Late-Ripening Peach Line
With the breeding objective of developing new varieties that are extremely late-ripening, high quality, storage-tolerant and high-yielding, we carried out hybridization in 1998 using Dongxue Mi Tao (Winter Snow Honey Peach) as the female parent and Zhonghua Shou Tao (China Longevity Peach) as the male parent, obtaining 50 hybrid fruits. In 1999, 46 hybrid seedlings were raised, top-grafting was carried out in 2000, and fruit was borne in 2001. The fruit traits were excellent, and multi-site trials were conducted in 2004. It was selected as a new line and tentatively named Dongxuewang Tao. Its main traits are as follows. Wangmu Red Immortal Peach: A New Extremely Late-Ripening High-Quality Peach Variety
Wangmu Red Immortal Peach, also known as Golden-Beak Immortal Peach, is an extremely late-ripening high-quality new peach variety in China. Its main characteristics are: late ripening, large fruit, red color, sweetness, good storage tolerance, good shipping tolerance, and relatively high economic value. It is a highly promising extra-late-ripening high-quality variety. I. Botanical Characteristics. The tree is vigorous and upright in habit. The trunk and perennial branches are white and smooth. One-year-old branches are reddish-brown with short internodes, averaging 1.53 cm. New shoots grow vigorously from mid-May to mid-June, secondary shoots grow vigorously from July to August, and secondary branches grow most strongly with large growth amounts. Leaves are thick and consistently green, with yellow-green veins, leaf length 15 cm, width 3.2-3.5 cm, apex gradually pointed, petiole length 0.8 cm. Flower buds are relatively small, flowers are large, anthers are yellow-purple, pollen is abundant, initial flowers are pink, gradually turning deep red afterward.

Ruipan 21 is a new extremely late-maturing flat peach cultivar
The flat peach is a variant of the peach and a unique resource of our country. The Institute of Forestry and Pomology, Beijing Academy of Agriculture and Forestry Sciences launched a flat peach breeding program in the late 1970s, and several cultivars bred from it have already been widely promoted in production, but extremely late-maturing cultivars with a fruit development period of more than 160 d are still rare. 'Ruipan 21' (see color photo on the inside back cover) is an extremely late-maturing flat peach cultivar obtained from the cross 'Fantasia' x 'Ruipan 4' (1996), and was approved by the Beijing Municipal Crop Variety Approval Committee in 2006.
