Mulberry, also known as mulberry fruit, mulberry cane, mulberry jujube, mulberry berry, mulberry bubble, black mulberry and so on, is a relatively commonly eaten fruit. It ripens and comes on the market from April to June each year. It is generally eaten after being dried, and can also be used to make wine. Mulberries are planted in all parts of our country, so where are the mulberry production areas? How much does one jin cost now?

1. Where are the mulberry production areas?

There are many mulberry production areas, but only two places have the best quality: one is the old course of the Yellow River in Xiajin, Shandong, and the other is southern Xinjiang. The mulberries from the old course of the Yellow River in Xiajin can be called one of a kind. At present, the ancient mulberry tree group on the old course of the Yellow River in Xiajin covers an area of about 6000 mu, with more than 30,000 century-old and thousand-year-old ancient trees. Because its ecological protection measures are in place, the mulberries produced in Xiajin are clearly different from ordinary mulberries.

The main nutritional components of mulberry include water, sugar, crude protein, ash, crude fiber, free acid, soluble nitrogen-free substances, etc. In addition, mulberry also contains essential amino acids for the human body and easily absorbed polysaccharides, rich vitamins, red pigment, and minerals such as calcium, iron, zinc and selenium that the human body lacks. It has effects such as enhancing immunity, promoting the growth of hematopoietic cells, and promoting metabolism, and has rich nutritional value and a certain pharmacological value.

2. Roughly how much does one jin of mulberries cost now?

The price of mulberries is roughly 5-8 yuan per jin. There are certain differences in prices across regions, and they are affected by many factors, such as the quality of the mulberries, whether they are fresh or dried, the production area, market conditions, and so on.

3. Greenhouse mulberry planting techniques

1. Greenhouse construction

Choose a place with flat terrain, facing the sun and sheltered from the wind to build the greenhouse. It is advisable for it to be 60 m long from east to west and 10 m wide, with the back wall 2.8 m high, the main arch of the greenhouse 3.8 m high from the top of the arch to the foot of the arch, the front edge 1 m high, and the back wall and west wall more than 60 cm thick.

The framework uses double-layer galvanized steel pipes, with steel wires pulled east-west at intervals of 30 cm, and bamboo poles 6 cm thick tied north-south at intervals of about 60 cm. When covering the greenhouse, cover it with a drip-free long-life film, and on the film place a 5 cm thick straw mat or thermal insulation quilt. If conditions permit, an automatic roller shutter machine can be installed.

2. Planting time

Greenhouse mulberry planting time is divided into spring and summer. In spring it is from late March to early April, and in summer it is in early June. When planting in spring, choose large seedlings more than 1 cm thick and more than 1.2 m tall for planting. When planting in summer, use two-year-old or three-year-old large seedlings for planting.

3. Seedling planting

The seedlings are planted north-south in the greenhouse, with a row spacing of 2 m and a plant spacing of 1.5 m, planting 222 plants per mu. Before planting, dig planting trenches 50 cm deep and 80 cm wide along the rows, or dig planting holes 60 cm square.

Apply fully decomposed organic fertilizer into the planting trench, 3000 kg per mu, mix it evenly with the soil, fill it level and irrigate to let it settle. After planting, firm the soil, then water 2-3 times. When the seedlings sprout, apply 20 kg of urea per mu as a topdressing. After growing through summer and autumn, the greenhouse can be covered in winter.
