Raising wild boars is a type of specialty farming, and most of the animals currently kept in captivity are specialty wild boars produced by crossbreeding wild boars with domestic pigs. These pigs retain part of the appearance and wild nature of wild boars, yet their temperament is gentler than that of purebred wild boars, making them easier to manage than wild boars tamed directly from the wild.

The advantages of specialty wild boars are their strong disease resistance and tolerance of coarse feed, and their feed requirements are not particularly strict, so green and coarse feed can make up a certain proportion of the daily ration. Their meat has more lean and less fat, has a chewy texture, and is a specialty meat product on the market, which is why it has attracted the attention of many farmers.

In actual feeding, pens and fences must be built sturdy enough, with both height and strength taking into account the wild boar's ability to charge, so as to prevent escapes and injuries to people. When selecting breeding boars, pay attention to a well-proportioned body, strong limbs, and vigorous libido; when mating, avoid inbreeding, and sows should be housed separately before and after farrowing, keeping the environment quiet to help keep reproductive performance stable.

It should be noted that before starting to raise wild boars, you should first understand the relevant local regulations and handle the procedures in accordance with the law; wild boars must not be captured from the wild and taken home for raising without authorization. Daily management also cannot simply copy the domestic pig model; disease prevention, deworming, and feed formulation must all be arranged according to the characteristics of wild boars, while avoiding common pitfalls such as blindly introducing breeding stock and excessively pursuing bloodline purity, so that profits can be obtained steadily.
