The mini pig is a local small pig breed in China, named for its thin skin, tender meat, and the fresh fragrance of suckling pig meat. Common groups include Bama mini pigs and Congjiang mini pigs. Compared with ordinary domestic pigs, it has a compact body, grows more slowly, and reaches sexual maturity earlier. Its adult body weight is clearly smaller than that of general commercial pigs. Its coat color is mainly black, with some individuals bearing white patches, and its temperament is also relatively docile.

In terms of feeding, mini pigs tolerate coarse feed. Green forage and agricultural by-product scraps can both be used in combination, and concentrated feed does not need to be given in excessive amounts, but a balanced supply of protein and minerals must be ensured. The pen should be chosen in a location with higher terrain and good ventilation and dryness. In winter and spring, the focus should be on keeping piglets warm, and drinking water should be kept clean and bedding dry in daily management. Vaccinating according to schedule against swine fever, foot-and-mouth disease, and other diseases and regularly deworming can significantly reduce the risk of disease.

In terms of use, mini pigs have thin skin, fine bones, and tender meat, and are often used for roast suckling pig and specialty meat product processing. They are a local pig breed resource with clear differentiation. Some farmers also combine them with leisure agriculture as an interactive sightseeing project, expanding additional sources of income.

It should be noted that ordinary piglets are occasionally passed off as mini pigs on the market. When introducing breeding stock, one should choose reputable farms, check quarantine certificates, and confirm that their adult body size is indeed relatively small. Before farming, it is advisable to first understand local sales channels and consumption habits, start on a smaller scale, gradually accumulate experience, and then expand the herd, which will make business risks more controllable.
