Zhongcha Green Mark is a classic round tea cake in the Pu'er tea Mark Series, named for the green printing of the character "tea" at the center of the Eight-Zhongcha logo on the wrapping cotton paper and the inner ticket. It belongs to the same period as the Red Mark and Yellow Mark teas, and is regarded by tea lovers as one of the representative varieties in the system of aged Pu'er teas.

Round tea cakes of the Mark Series period were mostly pressed from Yunnan's traditional sun-dried maocha into cakes. After decades of natural aging, the Green Mark round tea cakes survive in quite scarce numbers. Some have a printing color that leans blue, and tea lovers often call these Blue Mark; the two essentially refer to teas of the same period.

In terms of drinking performance, a properly aged Green Mark round tea cake yields a liquor that is deep red and translucent, mellow and smooth on the palate, with a prominent aged charm, a lasting sweet aftertaste and relatively high durability across infusions. The tea cake has tightly twisted strips and a neat round shape, and the natural signs of aging on the cotton paper and inner ticket serve as important references by which tea lovers judge the vintage.

Because they are scarce and highly collectible, counterfeit Green Mark teas are not uncommon on the market. When buying, one should make a comprehensive assessment based on packaging details, printing color characteristics, aroma and liquor color, and the appearance of the brewed leaves, and consult experienced tea people for help with authentication when necessary. For ordinary tea lovers, even if genuine examples are hard to come by, understanding the origin and characteristics of Green Mark also helps in grasping the aging logic of Pu'er tea and the culture of the Mark Series teas.
