Qingjing Wuwei is the name of a Chinese orchid (Cymbidium) variety rich in Daoist connotations, commonly seen in the fields of orchid cultivation and appreciation. The name borrows from the Daoist idea of a pure mind and few desires, of following nature, which fits perfectly with the elegant, refined character of orchids, and also reflects the distinctive feature of traditional orchid-appreciation culture, in which the name and the flower set each other off beautifully.

From an appreciation standpoint, orchids given this kind of name are judged by their overall artistic conception; the flower color should be plain and quietly elegant, the leaf posture graceful and flowing, and the fragrance subtle and serene, in keeping with the traditional orchid aesthetic that prizes plainness above all. When in bloom it is upright and well-formed with a pleasant, delicate fragrance, and whether placed in a hall or a study it creates a quiet, refined atmosphere, giving it high ornamental value.

As for care, Qingjing Wuwei is similar in habit to most Chinese orchids, preferring a warm, humid, well-ventilated semi-shaded environment. The growing medium should be loose, airy and well draining; watering should follow the principle of watering when dry and holding off when wet; during the growing season, fertilize lightly and often; in summer, provide shade and cooling; in winter, reduce watering appropriately and keep the environment from becoming too cold.

When buying, pay attention to verifying the authenticity of the variety; judge it comprehensively from leaf shape, flowering season, flower color and fragrance, and compare carefully with photos of the flowers in bloom. Because naming in the orchid market is rather chaotic and duplicate names appear from time to time, it is advisable to buy through reputable channels to avoid misjudging a plant on the basis of its name alone.
