Jinyu Mantang flower is a commercial name used in the market for Ardisia crenata, also called Fuguizi or Huangjin Wanliang in some regions. It belongs to the Myrsinaceae family as an evergreen shrub, with a compact plant shape and glossy leathery leaves, and is a common ornamental fruit plant in the Lunar New Year flower market in recent years.

Its ornamental highlight lies mainly in the fruit. The plant produces small white or pale pink flowers in summer, and after flowering it bears bright red small round fruits that hang in clusters below the leaves, with a long fruit-bearing period. Combined with its auspicious name, it is often used to decorate living rooms and shop halls, and is also suitable as a festive gift. It should be noted that in the horticultural world there is another cultivar with the same name, Jinyu Mantang Cymbidium, which belongs to the Orchidaceae family, and the two are not the same type of plant.

In terms of care, Jinyu Mantang prefers a warm and humid semi-shaded environment and avoids direct strong light. It can be placed by a window with bright scattered light or on the inner side of a balcony. Watering should follow the principle of watering when dry and stopping when wet, keeping the potting soil slightly moist without waterlogging; when the air is dry, spray water on the leaves to increase humidity. The soil is best as loose, fertile, well-drained slightly acidic soil; during the growing season, apply light fertilizer frequently, and in winter pay attention to keeping it warm and preventing frost damage.

In daily management, the most common problems are yellowing leaves and fruit drop, mostly related to overwatering, excessive light, or sudden environmental changes. Once noticed, adjust the placement position in time and control the water amount, and it can generally recover gradually. During the fruit-bearing period, minimize moving it, which can help the red fruits last longer.
