Chechunlan is an ornamental variety in the Cymbidium goeringii series of the Orchidaceae family, genus Cymbidium, and has drawn the attention of orchid enthusiasts for its elegant flower form and delicate fragrance. It retains the typical characteristics of Cymbidium goeringii: the leaves are slender and mostly arch-shaped, often with fine teeth along the edges, and the plant has a graceful form. The flowering period is mostly concentrated in early spring, generally with one flower per scape; the flower color is quietly elegant, and the subtle fragrance is long-lasting when in bloom, making it suitable for desktop display and courtyard accents.

In cultivation, Chechunlan prefers a cool, moist, well-ventilated, semi-shaded environment; it fears both strong direct sunlight and waterlogging in the pot. The growing medium should be loose, breathable, and slightly acidic, such as leaf mold combined with bark, Kanuma soil, and similar materials, to ensure smooth root respiration. Water according to the principle of watering when dry and letting it dry between waterings; during the growing season, apply dilute fertilizer frequently, provide shade and cooling in summer, and drain promptly during the rainy season.

Most Cymbidium goeringii varieties require a certain amount of low-temperature accumulation to flower successfully, and Chechunlan is no exception. Proper low-temperature vernalization in winter and maintaining a reasonable day-night temperature difference help flower bud development, and the flowering quality in early spring of the following year will be better. Before and after the flowering period, it should be moved as little as possible to avoid bud drop caused by sudden environmental changes.

It should be noted that famous Cymbidium goeringii varieties on the market are often passed off as ordinary wild-collected orchids. When buying Chechunlan, one should use proper channels and make a comprehensive judgment based on characteristics such as leaf posture, fine teeth on leaf margins, petal form, and fragrance. Other famous Cymbidium goeringii varieties in the same series include Luyun, Loushanhong, Hangongqiuyue, and others; their growth habits are similar, and their care methods can be referenced from one another.
