Triple superphosphate is a high-concentration water-soluble phosphorus fertilizer, generally made by reacting phosphate rock powder with phosphoric acid, and its main component is monocalcium phosphate. Compared with ordinary superphosphate, its available phosphorus content is noticeably higher, so it is often called triple superphosphate. Because of its high nutrient concentration and few impurities, the fertilizer has a relatively small volume and weight, making it easy to transport and store.

Its characteristic lies in the concentrated phosphorus nutrient and good water solubility; after being applied to the soil it is released fairly quickly and can meet the crop's demand for phosphorus at the seedling stage. However, it contains no gypsum or only a small amount of by-components such as gypsum, and its medium elements such as calcium and sulfur are not as abundant as those of ordinary superphosphate, so it can show its advantages better on soils that are clearly deficient in phosphorus while calcium and sulfur supplies are sufficient.

In production it is mostly used as a base fertilizer, and concentrated application methods such as furrow application and hole application can be adopted, placing the fertilizer near the roots to improve utilization. The specific amount should be determined according to the degree of soil phosphorus deficiency and the crop being planted, avoiding applying too much at one time. If used as a seed fertilizer, it should be kept at an appropriate distance from the seeds to prevent the high-concentration fertilizer from affecting germination.

During use, note that triple superphosphate readily reacts with alkaline substances and thus reduces fertilizer efficiency, so it should not be mixed directly with alkaline fertilizers such as plant ash. Applying it together with decomposed organic fertilizer helps reduce the fixation of phosphorus by the soil and improves the fertilization effect. During storage it should be kept in a dry place to prevent moisture and caking from affecting later use.
