An Introduction to the Benefits and Brewing Methods of Forget-Me-Not Flower Tea
Forget-me-not flower tea is an herbal tea brewed from the dried flowers of the forget-me-not, with blossoms that are mostly pale purple or blue-violet; once brewed, the liquor is clear and bright, carrying a faint delicate fragrance, with a taste that is slightly sweet and tinged with a hint of bitterness. On the market it is also often blended with rose, chrysanthemum, honeysuckle and other flowers into combination flower teas, giving a richer flavor.
From the perspective of traditional drinking experience, forget-me-not flower tea is often regarded as having the effects of clearing heat and reducing internal fire, and of soothing the throat and benefiting the voice, making it suitable for drinking when the weather is dry or when one uses one's voice a great deal. At the same time, it is also often listed among beauty flower teas, and many people are in the habit of drinking a small amount daily, hoping it will moisturize the skin and soothe the emotions. It should be noted that these are mostly summaries of folk experience; flower tea is an everyday beverage and cannot replace medication.
To brew it, take a small amount of dried flowers and place them in a cup, pour in hot water, and let it steep for a few minutes before drinking; you may also add honey or rock sugar to taste. Drunk on its own it is light and elegant, while blended with rose, chrysanthemum and the like the taste has more layers, and after cold brewing in summer it is equally refreshing and pleasant.
There are also some points to note when drinking it. Forget-me-not flower tea is generally considered to have a cool nature, so people with weak and cold spleen and stomach, or who are prone to diarrhea, should drink less of it, and pregnant women and those with special constitutions are advised to consult a doctor before drinking. In addition, although flower tea is good, it should not be drunk in large amounts over the long term; moderation and drinking it at the right time are the more prudent approach.
