Chinese trumpet vine (Campsis grandiflora) is a climbing woody vine in the Bignoniaceae family, genus Campsis, and it is cultivated throughout northern and southern China. Its stems cling to walls, tree trunks or trellises by means of aerial roots, and in summer it produces orange-red funnel-shaped flowers that open in clusters among the green leaves, making it a highly photogenic flowering plant for vertical greening in courtyards.

As seen in pictures, the corolla of the Chinese trumpet vine is funnel-shaped or bell-shaped, with five lobes at the tip, and the color is mostly orange-red to bright red; the flowers usually open in clusters facing outward or hanging slightly downward. The leaves are pinnately compound, with leaflets that are ovate to ovate-lanceolate and smooth along the edges. When appreciating or selecting pictures, the posture of the vine, the inflorescence and the details of the leaves best bring out its distinctive features.

There are mainly two common ornamental types: one is the Chinese trumpet vine, whose flowers tend toward orange-red and which mostly blooms in midsummer; the other is the American trumpet vine, also called Campsis radicans, which has a thicker calyx and flowers of a deeper orange-red. In addition there is the hard-stemmed trumpet vine (Tecomaria capensis), which is shorter and suitable for pot culture, and which often appears in pictures as a clump-forming shrub.

When choosing or photographing pictures of Chinese trumpet vine, you can focus on the shape and color of the flowers and the state of its climbing growth, and these features can also help distinguish the Chinese trumpet vine from other similar climbing flowers. Whether used as a reference for identification or as inspiration for courtyard design, a set of clear Chinese trumpet vine pictures lets people intuitively feel its warm and bright ornamental effect.
