Cissus sicyoides is a perennial evergreen climbing plant in the grape family (Vitaceae), genus Cissus, native to tropical America and now widely cultivated in the warm regions of southern China. Its most striking feature is the fine, dense aerial roots that emerge from the stem nodes, hanging down in rows from trellises and looking like a hanging curtain from a distance, which earned it the elegant alternative name "A Curtain of Secluded Dreams." It is also commonly known among gardeners as noodle vine and aerial-root vine.

In terms of form, Cissus sicyoides has slender stems and vines that climb upward on supports by means of tendrils, with alternate, mostly heart-shaped or ovate leaves that are deep green and glossy; in summer and autumn it produces tiny white or pale green flowers. The young aerial roots often carry a red or purple tint and gradually turn yellow-green as they grow, and their length and density can be adjusted by pruning, which is what sets it apart from ordinary climbing plants.

For care, Cissus sicyoides prefers a warm, humid environment with plenty of sunlight. It is highly heat-tolerant but not cold-hardy, so protection from the cold is needed when temperatures drop in winter, and in northern regions it is usually grown in pots or in a greenhouse. It grows quickly, so choose well-drained soil, keep moisture moderate, and promptly train the vines and prune overly dense aerial roots; the curtain-like display will then look neater and more beautiful.

In terms of use, Cissus sicyoides is often planted on courtyard pergolas, pavilions and flower stands, where it provides shade and coolness while forming a distinctive hanging-curtain landscape with high ornamental value. Propagation is mainly by cuttings, which root most easily in spring and summer; as long as light, temperature and routine care are adequate, it will quickly cover a trellis.
