Pieris - Woody Plant

Other Names for Pieris
Qinmu, Xingshan pieris, red candle, naogou flower, paopao flower, pearl flower, guihua yantuo, beautiful nanzhu, firecracker flower, fine plum tree, etc.
Growth Habits of Pieris
Pieris prefers moist, semi-shaded environments, fears intense sunlight and exposure, and is cold-hardy. It can overwinter in the open at a low temperature of -27°C, tolerates pruning, and has strong sprouting ability; most pieris varieties do not have high environmental requirements.
Prospects for Pieris Cultivation and Development
Pieris has numerous varieties with differing habits and wide uses, making it entirely possible to "match the tree to the site"; its widespread application in gardens in many countries such as Europe and Japan is good proof of this.
Because many varieties have rich, colorful and gorgeous foliage, they have extremely high ornamental value as potted flowers, and cultivation in substrate makes it easy to control pH and easy to maintain.
At present, there is very little introduction and cultivation of pieris varieties in China, and superior varieties are especially rare. As long as varieties are chosen properly and substrate cultivation is used, whether for potted flowers or for landscaping, the market prospects are immeasurable.
