What is pennywort? Get to know this aquatic plant

Other names for pennywort
Pennywort, South American pennywort, coin grass, round coin grass, shield-leaf pennywort, money lotus.
Pennywort's growth habits
Pennywort is robust by nature, easy to plant, and multiplies quickly; it can grow both in water and on land.
Pennywort likes warmth and moisture, so it should be kept in a semi-shaded spot for care, and direct sunlight should be avoided. There are no strict requirements for the growing soil; loose, well-drained potting soil is best, or it can be grown directly in water. The best growing temperature is 22~28°C,
Pennywort does not need a very large pot; it can also be grown in a larger bowl, and a shallower narcissus pot will do. For soil, garden soil is generally used, mixed with an appropriate amount of river sand, and a small amount of organic fertilizer is added as a base fertilizer.
Pennywort is afraid of the cold. In winter, for pennywort kept outdoors, all the water can be poured off and it can be placed in a south-facing, sunny, wind-sheltered spot, where it can winter safely. However, in winter the leaves will gradually wither, and in the following spring the underground roots will sprout again. In cold northern regions, if there is no heating, you can cover it with a cover, pour off the water, and keep it moist; as long as the room temperature is not lower than 0°C, it will likewise continue to grow the following year.
The symbolism of pennywort
Pennywort has round leaves, like mini lotus leaves, quite cute, and like ancient copper coins. It symbolizes reunion and continuous good fortune, and its name carries the two characters "copper" and "coin," so its meaning is naturally different: a home with copper coins has rolling wealth, and therefore it is regarded as a symbol of wealth.
