Longhorn beetles can be controlled using four methods: utilizing natural enemies, physical control, chemical control, and forestry control. Among these, physical control and chemical control are the more common methods in daily life. Physical control mainly uses methods such as manual capture, garden cleanup, and water immersion, generally capturing longhorn beetles after rain. Chemical control involves soaking cotton with dimethoate emulsifiable concentrate, dichlorvos emulsifiable concentrate, and other chemicals, then inserting them into the insect holes to kill the pests. Control is generally best done in June.

How to control longhorn beetle larvae?

1. Strengthen management: Strengthen cultivation management, prune reasonably, pay attention to variety arrangement, and create a biodiverse planting environment, because a properly shaded environment has fewer occurrences of tiger longhorn beetle damage than a fully exposed environment, and robustly growing fruit trees have a certain insect resistance.

2. Timely handling: When longhorn beetle-infested branches are found, cut off about 20 cm of the damaged young stems and remove dead plants, burn them in a centralized manner or inject chemicals into the insect holes. When stems and leaves suddenly wilt from July to August, remove dead branches, carry out manual capture, and promptly cut down and burn infested branches and trunks.

3. Poison larvae: When young larvae have just entered the xylem, take dichlorvos, trichlorfon, and other insecticides at 20-30 times dilution, and use a large syringe to inject the solution into the insect tunnels. In production, medicinal mud, medicated cotton balls, camphor balls, etc. are also inserted into the insect holes to poison the larvae.

4. Whitewash tree trunks: Use 10 parts quicklime, 1 part sulfur powder, 0.2 parts salt, 0.2 parts cattle glue (pre-melted in hot water), 30-40 parts water, or add 0.2 parts trichlorfon to make a whitewash agent, apply it to the lower part of the trunk within 2 m from the ground, without missing any spots.

5. Chemical control: Such as 2.5% deltamethrin, 2.5% cyhalothrin, 5% esfenvalerate, 90% trichlorfon crystal, 80% dichlorvos, 40% omethoate, 50% fenitrothion, 50% methamidophos, 50% phoxim, 40% methidathion, 48% chlorpyrifos, etc.

The above is the relevant introduction to longhorn beetle control methods. We hope it is helpful to everyone.
