Where is the origin of Golden Leaf? Introduction to the main producing areas
Golden Leaf is an evergreen shrub. As a garden landscape color-block plant, its color is golden yellow and very attractive. Where is the origin of Golden Leaf?
1. Origin of Golden Leaf
Golden Leaf is native to Mexico, Brazil and other parts of the Americas. It has now been introduced and cultivated in open fields in southern China, while in central and northern China it is mainly grown in pots. Golden Leaf likes high temperatures and tolerates drought. Its optimum growing temperature is 22—30°C.
2. Morphological characteristics of Golden Leaf
Golden Leaf generally grows 0.2-0.6 m tall, with branches drooping or spreading horizontally. The leaves are opposite, long ovate, golden yellow to yellow-green, ovate-elliptic or obovate, 2-6.5 cm long, with coarse teeth above the middle. The flowers are blue or light blue-purple, in conical racemes, with a flowering period from May to October. The drupe is orange-yellow and glossy.
3. Main uses of Golden Leaf
It is suitable for planting as hedges, green walls and flower corridors, or for climbing on flower trellises, or hanging over stone walls and masonry walls.
The branches are soft and tolerant of pruning, and can be curled into various shapes for bonsai cultivation, or pruned and trained into stump bonsai, with the best effect.
After introduction and cultivation, Golden Leaf has been planted on a large scale in China, mostly for garden decoration.
