1. Where is the Gong pear produced?

The Gong pear originated in Dangshan, Anhui Province, and its current main production area is the central and southern regions of Shanxi Province. In 1967, Dangshan pears were introduced from Anhui and trial-planted in the First Agricultural Division, Second Agricultural Division, and Third Agricultural Division. Due to Xinjiang's special conditions of little rain, long sunshine hours, high daytime temperatures, and large temperature differences between day and night, after more than 20 years of artificial cultivation, natural domestication, and human selection, a new variety——the Gong pear——was formed. The average weight of a single fruit of this variety is about 250 grams.

2. The nutritional value of the Gong pear

The nutritional value of the Gong pear is very high. Eating Gong pears often in daily life is helpful to one's health, especially because Gong pears contain a great deal of water. Pears in the world can be divided into two major categories: “Western pears” and “Oriental pears.” In daily life, there are more than 20 common varieties, among which are Yali pear, Suli pear, Xuehua pear, Xiangshui pear, Jingbai pear, Qiubai pear, Yaguang pear, and so on.

Analysis of the nutritional components of Dangshan Gong pear: pears are very rich in nutrition and full of water. In every 100 grams of fresh pear, there are 0.1 grams of fat, 9 grams of sugar, 0.1 grams of protein, 6 milligrams of phosphorus, 4 milligrams of vitamin C, 0.2 milligrams of iron, 5 milligrams of inorganic salt calcium, and 0.02 milligrams of thiamine.

There are also certain amounts of protein, fat, carotene, vitamin B1, vitamin B2, malic acid, and so on, all of which are substances essential to the human body. The calorie yield of 100 grams of flesh is 37 kilocalories, higher than that of the same amount of other melons and fruits.

Gong pears can not only be eaten raw, but can also be eaten cooked. Eating them cooked also has the effect of clearing heat and moistening the lungs, with a unique flavor.
