How to use a variety of feeds in wild boar farming?
Wild boars are especially fond of green succulent feed, which can account for more than 50% of the daily ration; combined with a small amount of concentrated feed, this is enough to raise robust wild boars.
① Green feed: commonly used ones include alfalfa, purple celery root, amaranth, sweet potato vine and leaves, green-cut corn, green-cut barley, etc. Green feed has a high crude protein content, high digestibility, a comprehensive range of required amino acids, rich vitamin content, good quality and high utilization rate.
② Root tuber, tuber and melon-fruit feeds: including sweet potato, potato, pumpkin, carrot, etc. This type of feed is crisp, tender and juicy, can stimulate appetite, and has a high digestibility of organic matter. It plays an important role in improving the nutritional composition of the daily ration and raising the digestion rate, but it should not be fed alone. It must be matched with roughage and concentrated feed, and protein feed must also be supplemented, to achieve a satisfactory feeding effect.
③ Silage: that is, storing green succulent feed for feeding during the off-season for green feed in winter and spring. Commonly used silage materials include: sweet potato vine and leaves, cabbage outer leaves, radish greens, cabbage leaves, green grass, etc.
④ Roughage includes dried grass, agricultural by-products (crop stems, vines, rattans, shells, stalks, seedlings, etc.), tree leaves, and distiller's grains and residues. It is the main feed for wild boars in winter and spring. Roughage has a high crude fiber content, rich vitamin content, and contains more calcium but less phosphorus. When feeding, care should be taken to match it well with other feeds.
