  • Retained placenta in livestock can be treated by boiling Angelica sinensis in sweet rice wine

Retained placenta in livestock is a relatively common condition among obstetric diseases. Under the guidance of my father, the author has used Angelica sinensis boiled in sweet rice wine to treat retained placenta in livestock, with obvious results. "Angelica sinensis," which some farmers call "blood skin vegetable," has been used by the author since 1988 to treat 22 cases of retained placenta in yellow cattle and water buffalo, 1 case of retained placenta in a dairy cow in June last year, and 1 case of retained placenta after miscarriage in livestock (a pig) in May this year, all with practical results. This medicine is simple to use, economical, and convenient, and is hereby reported as follows for the reference of colleagues. 1 Drug processing

  • How to bake and shape Gastrodia elata after steaming and boiling

Place the Gastrodia elata taken out after steaming and boiling on a pre-prepared kang (heated brick bed). The temperature on the kang should initially be 50-60°C. After baking for 2-3 hours, raise it to 70-80°C. When it is 60-70% dry, take it out and flatten it with a wooden board. Finally, bake it over charcoal fire with sulfur until completely dry, and it becomes commercial Gastrodia elata. Sun-drying can also be used for processing, but the time required is too long, so it is rarely used. Generally, drying over a high fire is better. Practice has proved that Gastrodia elata steamed in a basket is the best, while the quality of that boiled in water is poorer.
