The reporter recently learned from the State Forestry Administration that in 2014 the national forest product import and export trade volume reached 138 billion USD, an increase of 9.5 percent over the previous year, and China has become a major country in the production and trade of forest products. It is reported that in 2014 the national forestry industry achieved a total output value of 5.26 trillion yuan, an increase of 11.1 percent over the previous year. Among this, the output value of wood and bamboo processing and product manufacturing, and of economic forest product planting and harvesting, both exceeded 1 trillion yuan. The forestry output value of Guangdong, Shandong, Fujian, Guangxi, Zhejiang, Jiangsu and other provinces all exceeded 300 billion yuan. Zhang Jianlong, deputy director of the State Forestry Administration, said that in 2015 the focus will be on developing characteristic economic forests, forest tourism and forestry leisure services, flowers and seedlings and other industries, supporting the development of strategic emerging industries such as biomass energy, biomaterials and biopharmaceuticals, and accelerating the development of woody oil industries such as oil tea and walnut.
