What Variety Is the Milk Apple? A Quick Guide
Apple is a low-calorie food with many varieties, including Red Fuji, Guoguang, Red Star, Hanfu, Xialv, and Golden Delicious. Among them is one called the milk apple, which sounds unfamiliar. So, what variety is the milk apple?
1. What Variety Is the Milk Apple?
The milk apple, also called the cream apple or cream Fuji apple, is a new apple variety that is not waxed, not sprayed with preservatives, and grown on milk. Its apple protein content far exceeds that of other varieties. Inside its ultra-thin skin is flesh that is white with a hint of pale yellow, and it tastes full of milky fragrance.
2. When Are Milk Apples Harvested?
Milk apples are harvested in November each year, staying on the tree more than a month longer than Red Fuji.
The milk apple is known as the king of apples. This is thanks to its growing region's large temperature difference between day and night, ample sunlight, and fertile soil. Pollination is done at flowering, and bagging begins when the fruit is young to protect the fruit surface from contact with pesticides. Each tree is irrigated with no less than ten kilograms of fresh milk each year, and organic soybean meal is used throughout. As the growing period lengthens, combined with characteristics such as cultivation in sandy soil, its sugar content is extremely high; the sugar accumulates in the core area into a translucent state. Because it is harvested at low temperatures, it is also especially rich in water, sweet to the heart in one bite, moist and white, and very appetizing just to look at.
