How to Build a Greenhouse? Detailed Explanation of the Steps and Key Technical Points
Planting vegetables in a greenhouse is not only easy to manage, but also allows off-season cultivation, with many advantages. So how do you build a greenhouse?
1. Making a Simple Greenhouse
1. Material preparation
Measure the specifications needed for the greenhouse in advance. Prepare moso bamboo with thick walls and good bending strength in advance. For the film, choose ordinary film, anti-fog film, multi-functional long-life film, etc. In addition, you will need steel rods 2-3cm in diameter and 1m long, a hammer, No. 8 galvanized wire, and other common farm tools.
2. Location and specifications
Usually use a tape measure to measure the distance, and use lime to mark out the specific position according to the standard of 30m long, 5-6m wide, and 2.5m high, to build a small bamboo-frame greenhouse.
3. Planting and burying bamboo poles
Before planting and burying the bamboo poles, determine the specific position of each bamboo pole according to the overall orientation of the greenhouse. Place one bamboo pole about every 60cm, and try to keep the left and right sides as symmetrical as possible to prevent the greenhouse from bending. Then use a steel rod to dig holes 50cm deep at the fixed points. If the soil is soft, you can dig deeper to keep it firm. If other problems occur, you can also appropriately deepen them according to the actual situation.
After digging the holes, insert the bamboo poles into the holes, then bend them down to 2.5m. Saw off the excess part of the bamboo poles directly, then fix them with the previously prepared No. 8 galvanized wire. Finally, tie several straight bamboo poles at the top of the greenhouse to serve as support rods.
4. Covering with film
The final step in building a bamboo-frame greenhouse is to cover it with film. First, dig a 15cm deep ditch on both sides of the greenhouse, cover the bamboo frame with the film, lay the bottom edge along the bamboo frame into the dug ditch, and then press it down with soil. If you accidentally tear the film, you can repair it with tape. The left and right sides of the greenhouse also need to be covered with the upper film. You can plant a few bamboo poles and leave a movable curtain as an entrance, which can also provide ventilation for the crops.
2. Making a Steel-Frame Greenhouse
Method for building a steel-frame greenhouse. A steel-frame greenhouse also requires the same basic preparation work first, and then follows the installation process and construction sequence as follows:
1. First, erect the rear wall panels.
2. Reserve expansion joints every 10m, and fill the joints to form the wall.
3. Erect the gable walls.
4. Erect the greenhouse frame. The spacing between frames is about 1m. First, erect a vertical post on the inner side of each gable wall at both ends, and make sure the arc of the greenhouse frame is consistent with that of the gable wall. Start laying out the line and erect from one end.
5. Connect the tie rods.
6. Cover the rear slope panels.
7. Fill the joints and apply waterproofing treatment, reserving expansion joints every 10m.
8. Dig the film-pressing ditches and bury the ground anchors.
9. Cover the greenhouse film and install the film-pressing lines or pressing rods.
