What are some practical methods for killing pests without pesticides
Using too many pesticides can affect plant growth, so many farmers are no longer very fond of using pesticides. But with pests running rampant, are there methods for killing pests without pesticides?
1. Wood ash pest control method
Wood ash can be used to control onion flies, root maggots, aphids, scarab beetles, and others. There are three methods: first, soil application, 30-40 kg of wood ash per mu, which can be used in cultivation furrows to control root-zone pests; second is direct dusting, when the dew in the morning is not yet dry after grinding, use 1-2 kg of wood ash per mu to dust the wood ash on the pest-damaged parts. Third is spraying plant ash liquid, soak 3 kg of plant ash in 10 kg of water for 3 days, filter out the residue and spray the plant ash extract, with a spraying amount of 50 kg per mu.
2. Tobacco pest control method
Tobacco pest control is mainly used to control aphids, bugs, fly maggots, and others. Before preparation, weigh waste tobacco and water at a ratio of 1:40, cut the tobacco leaves into pieces, soak them in 10 parts of boiling water and cover, knead the soaked tobacco leaves until the water temperature drops to about 20°C, remove the tobacco leaves until there is no thick juice, put the tobacco leaves into another 10 parts of water and knead further, after 4 changes of water and kneading, filter out the residue from the tobacco leaves, mix the tobacco leaf juice thoroughly for field pest control, with a spraying amount of about 50 kg per mu.
3. Castor leaf pest control method
It can be used to control various pests, such as vegetable aphids, cabbage worms, fly maggots, cutworms, scarab beetles, diamondback moths, and others. You can add 3-5 times the amount of water to castor juice, soak for 12 hours, and then spray it on the leaves. You can also add 5 times the amount of water to castor oil, rub it in and soak for 12 hours. You can spray on sunny days and in the evening, using 20-40 kg of the solution per mu. Note the necessity of using it.
4. Chili pepper pest control method
Take 500 g of fresh chili peppers (the hotter the better), add 15-20 kg of clean water, boil for 10-15 minutes, filter out the liquid, add 100-125 g of washing powder while hot, after cooling add 50 kg of water to two bags of Meijia point, mix evenly and spray. This method can be used to control pests such as corn borers, rice planthoppers, rice stem borers, leaf rollers, aphids, red spiders, cutworms, and others.
5. Scallion and garlic pest control method
Mash garlic and onions together, 20 g each, wrap them in gauze, soak in 10 kg of water for 24 hours, then remove from the gauze bag. This solution can be used to control pests such as beetles, aphids, and red spiders.
6. Flour pest control
Around 12:00 noon, take 250 g of wheat flour, add 7.5-8 kg of water, and spray evenly on the other side of leaves damaged by red spiders. After 10 minutes, all the red spiders are stuck to the leaves by the flour on their legs and die on the other side of the leaves. This method is also suitable for vegetables, fruit trees, cotton, and other crops.
7. Baking soda for disease prevention
Using a 0.2% concentration baking soda solution, that is, 100 g of baking soda solution sprayed with 50 kg of water, has a very good control effect on cucumber and Chinese cabbage powdery mildew, anthracnose, downy mildew, and cowpea anthracnose, with a control effect of 93.1%. It can also be used to treat rice blast. Mixed with isoprothiolane, tricyclazole, and others. The effect is greatly increased. However, it should not be mixed with acidic pesticides.
