Can validamycin be used on vegetables?

Validamycin can be applied to vegetables. It is a low-toxicity fungicide, mainly used for rice sheath blight, and can also be used for the prevention and control of rice false smut, corn northern and southern leaf blight, as well as diseases of vegetables, cotton, legumes and other crops.

I. Characteristics of validamycin

Validamycin is an antibiotic produced by actinomycetes. It has strong systemic properties, is easily absorbed by fungal cells and rapidly translocated within them, interfering with and inhibiting the growth and development of fungal cells.

II. Effects of validamycin

1. Control of rice diseases

For sheath blight, generally from after the rice canopy closes to the early heading stage or the early peak of outbreak, use 100-150 g of 5% soluble powder per mu each time, diluted in 75-100 kg of water, and spray or splash onto the middle and lower parts of the rice, with an interval of 7-15 days, applying 1-3 times; for rice false smut, at the booting stage of rice, use 100-150 mL of 5% aqueous solution per mu, diluted in 50-75 kg of water for spraying.

2. Control of cotton damping-off: use a 500-1000 times dilution of 5% aqueous solution, and drench the seedling bed with 3 mL/sq m of the medicinal solution.

3. Control of wheat sheath blight: use 600-800 mL of 5% aqueous solution per 100 kg of seed, add a small amount of water and evenly spray it onto the wheat seed, stir well, pile and cover for a few hours, then sow. Alternatively, when the rate of diseased plants in the field reaches about 30%, use 100-150 mL of 5% validamycin aqueous solution per mu, diluted in 60-75 kg of water for spraying.

III. Precautions for validamycin

1. It can be mixed with many pesticides except alkaline ones.

2. As an antibiotic pesticide, it should be stored in a cool, dry place, and attention should be paid to preventing corrosion, mold and heat.

3. The powder can be sprayed on clear days in the early morning or evening while the dew has not yet dried; spraying at night is especially effective. On cloudy and rainy days it can be sprayed all day. When the wind force is greater than level 3, dusting is not suitable.

4. Store in a cool, dry warehouse, and pay attention to preventing mold, heat and freezing.

5. Shelf life is 2 years. If the powder absorbs moisture and cakes during the shelf life, its efficacy will not be affected after dissolution.
