Cutting wheat is generally done in the summer and autumn seasons. In different regions and for different varieties, the time for cutting wheat will differ slightly. Everything is subject to the actual situation.

I. Wheat cutting times in common provinces and cities

1. The harvest time in Sichuan Province is April 20 to May 25;

2. The harvest time in Shaanxi Province is May 22 to June 15;

3. The harvest time in Hubei Province is May 8 to the end of May;

4. The harvest time in Henan Province is the end of May to mid-June; among these, Pingdingshan City generally starts in mid-May and ends around the end of May; Jiaozuo City starts around June 05 and can finish in about one week.

II. How do you judge that the wheat is ripe?

Wheat maturity is divided into the milk-ripe stage, the dough stage and the full-ripe stage. Wheat harvest is determined according to the degree of maturity of the grain. Among these:

At the full-ripe stage, the wheat leaves are withered and yellow, the grains become hard and show the color of the variety, the moisture content is below 20%, and the moisture content of the stems is 20-30%. After the full-ripe stage, the nutrients in the grains flow back into the straw, causing a decrease in grain weight.

Early dough stage: the back of the grain is yellow-white, the ventral groove is yellow-green, most leaves begin to turn yellow, and the grain can very easily be pinched open with the fingers; the material inside the grain is like congealed wax and can be rolled into a strip;

Mid dough stage: the grains are all yellow, the tops of the stems have all turned yellow, and the grains can very easily be pinched off with the fingers;

Late dough stage: the whole plant is yellow, the stems have a certain elasticity, and pinching the grains with the fingers leaves no mark.

Generally, after the wheat is ripe, the best harvest times are 9-11 a.m. and 16-18 p.m.
