Introduction to the Characteristics of the Huacheng 3366 Wheat Variety

Huacheng 3366 is a semi-winter, medium-late maturing variety with a whole growth period of 233 days. It is suitable for planting in the early-to-mid season on medium-to-high fertility plots in the southern part of the Huang-Huai winter wheat region, including north-central Henan, northern Anhui, northern Jiangsu and the Guanzhong area of Shaanxi.

I. Variety Introduction

A semi-winter, medium-late maturing variety with a whole growth period of 233 days, 1 day later maturing than the control Zhoumai 18. The seedlings are semi-prostrate with average vigor; the leaves are narrow and short, dark green in color. Winter cold resistance is relatively good. Tillering ability is strong, and the rate of tillers forming ears is medium. Development in early spring is slow, with many spring tillers; stem elongation and jointing are late, the differentiation of the two types of tillers is slow, and heading is late; resistance to late-spring cold is medium. Heat tolerance is average, leaf function is lost quickly in the later stage, and there is premature senescence; the ripening appearance is average. Plant height is 83 cm; plant type is moderately compact; the stem is thin, and lodging resistance is medium. The ear layer is thick; the flag leaf is short and small, pointing upward; the ear and leaf are at the same layer; the ears are small but numerous. The ear is spindle-shaped, with long awns, white glumes, white grains; the grains are vitreous, with good plumpness and a low black point rate. The average number of ears per mu is 468,000, the number of grains per ear is 30.9, and the 1000-grain weight is 40.1 grams. In inoculation identification for disease resistance: slow stripe rust, highly susceptible to leaf rust, fusarium head blight, powdery mildew and sheath blight. In quality testing of mixed samples: test weight 804 g/L, protein content 13.8%, hardness index 66.0, wet gluten content of flour 30.4%, sedimentation value 34.0 ml, water absorption 55.6%, dough stability time 6.2 minutes, maximum tensile resistance 356 EU, extensibility 132 mm, tensile area 64 sq cm.

II. Yield Performance

In the 2009-2010 variety regional trial of the winter water group in the southern part of the Huang-Huai winter wheat region, the average yield per mu was 532.4 kg, an increase of 6.0% over the control Zhoumai 18; in the 2011-2012 continued trial, the average yield per mu was 515.8 kg, an increase of 6.4% over Zhoumai 18. In the 2011-2012 production trial, the average yield per mu was 511.0 kg, an increase of 4.3% over Zhoumai 18.

Huacheng 3366 wheat is a relatively high-quality variety, and when planting it attention should be paid to preventing lodging, powdery mildew and other diseases.
