1. Morphological Characteristics of Zhoumai 27

A semi-winter, medium-maturity variety; at maturity it is on average about 1 day earlier than the control Zhoumai 18. The seedlings are semi-prostrate, the leaves are narrow and long, the tillering ability is average, and the spike-forming rate is moderate. Winter cold resistance is relatively good. In spring, it joints and stems early, the two extremes differentiate quickly, and resistance to late spring cold is average. Plant height is 74 cm, the plant type is somewhat loose, and the flag leaves are long, rolled, and upright. Culm elasticity is moderate, and lodging resistance is moderate. Drought tolerance is average, grain filling is fast, and the maturity appearance is average. The spike layer is neat, the spikes are relatively large, the spikelets are relatively sparse, and grain set is good. The spike is spindle-shaped, with long awns, white glumes, and white grains; the grains are semi-hard and have good plumpness. Spike number per mu is 402,000 spikes, grains per spike is 37.3, and 1,000-grain weight is 42.6 g. Disease resistance identification: highly susceptible to stripe rust, powdery mildew, Fusarium head blight, and sheath blight; moderately susceptible to leaf rust. The quality test results for 2010 and 2011 were respectively: grain test weight 794 g/L and 790 g/L, hardness index 68.6 (2011), protein content 13.21% and 12.71%; flour wet gluten content 28.9% and 27.3%, sedimentation value 30.0 mL and 27.2 mL, water absorption 60.1% and 58.2%, stability time 4.1 minutes and 5.2 minutes, maximum resistance to extension 256 E.U and 240 E.U, extensibility 130 mm and 123 mm, and extension area 47 sq cm and 43 sq cm.

2. Yield Performance

In the 2009-2010 season, it participated in the regional trial of the winter water group in the southern part of the Huang-Huai winter wheat region, with an average yield per mu of 550.5 kg, an increase of 9.9% over the control Zhoumai 18. In the 2010-2011 season, in the continued trial, the average yield per mu was 589.6 kg, an increase of 5.4% over the control Zhoumai 18. In the 2010-2011 season production trial, the average yield per mu was 559.8 kg, an increase of 5.4% over the control Zhoumai 18.

This wheat is suitable for planting in the southern part of the Huang-Huai winter wheat region in Henan Province (except Nanyang and Xinyang), northern Anhui Province, northern Jiangsu Province, and the Guanzhong area of Shaanxi Province, in high- and medium-fertility and high- and medium-water plots in early to middle stubble.
