Recommended Heat-Tolerant Corn Varieties for the Huang-Huai-Hai Region
Heat-tolerant corn varieties for the Huang-Huai-Hai region include Dedan 5, Zhengdan 958, Yudan 132 and others. Compared with traditional grain crops such as rice and wheat, corn has strong drought tolerance, cold tolerance and tolerance of poor soil, as well as excellent environmental adaptability. Corn has relatively high nutritional value and is an excellent grain crop. Yudan 132 is introduced below.
Yudan 132——large ears, deep kernels with no bald tips, faster dehydration and high yield
Yudan 132 is a new excellent corn variety newly bred by Henan Agricultural University. In variety trials conducted over many consecutive years in Henan Province and the national Huang-Huai-Hai summer corn region, this variety showed excellent comprehensive traits, good adaptability and yield stability, and a suitable growth period.
Main trait performance and characteristics
High grain yield and outstanding yield stability. In the 2012 Zhengzhou summer sowing identification trial, this variety yielded 639.2 kg per mu, an increase of 11.6% over the nearby control Zhengdan 958. In the 2013 yield comparison trials at 2 locations, Zhengzhou and Xuchang, at 4500 plants/mu, it yielded 617.3 kg and 601.6 kg per mu, increases of 13.1% and 12.8% over the control Zhengdan 958. In 2014, in multi-point identification trials of this combination in Xun County, Neihuang, Mengzhou, Wen County, Weihui, Linying, Xiping, Shangshui and other places in Henan Province, it increased yield over the control Zhengdan 958 in all cases, with increases ranging from 2.3 to 11.9%.
In 2014, Yudan 132 participated in the Henan Province mechanical harvesting group comparative trial of new corn varieties; all 10 pilot sites increased yield, with an average of 693.89 kg per mu, an increase of 6.84% over the control variety Zhengdan 958 and 7.86% over the mechanical harvesting trait control variety Qiaoyu 8.
In 2015, Yudan 132 participated in the national main production area corn variety comparison trial; in the Huang-Huai-Hai summer corn region, 11 of 13 pilot sites increased yield and 2 decreased, with an average of 751.9 kg per mu, an increase of 8.24% over the control variety Zhengdan 958. In 2016 it was upgraded to participate in the national Huang-Huai-Hai summer corn group regional trial.
