What machine is suitable for harvesting giant king grass?
Giant king grass is one of the high-yield, high-quality king grasses. Using giant king grass as a cultivation substrate, it is known to be able to cultivate 49 species of edible and medicinal fungi, including shiitake mushrooms and reishi mushrooms. Besides being used as a fungal substrate, it can also be used as feed, and it is also an excellent grass species for soil and water conservation. So, what machine is used to harvest giant king grass?
1. What machine is used to harvest giant king grass?
Giant king grass is generally harvested with a dedicated giant king grass silage harvester. This type of machine is composed of a hydraulic lifter, a conveying device and a stalk-cutting device, and during operation the header can be adjusted according to the actual conditions of the crop.
2. Cultivation techniques for giant king grass
1. Soil selection
It is advisable to choose soil with a deep soil layer and relatively sufficient water supply. Prepare the beds; for mountain planting on slopes above 25 degrees, adopt the contour-line living king grass hedge planting method, with a bed width of 80 cm, a depth of 20 cm and a ditch width of 50 cm. For planting on flat riverbanks, sandy land or slopes of less than 25 degrees, simply level the ground.
2. Cultivation season
It is suitable to plant in the season when the average temperature is above 12°C, or at the beginning of the rainy season.
3. Propagation methods
Short-stem cuttings: asexual propagation using axillary buds. The method is to use pruning shears to cut stems with two nodes, and press the soil firmly around the cuttings. After planting, water until the soil is thoroughly moistened;
Whole-plant strip planting method: bury the whole giant king grass plant in the soil and cover with 2-4 cm of soil. Fertilization: apply nitrogen fertilizer once to promote strong seedlings and tillering; after harvesting, apply organic fertilizer and nitrogen fertilizer to promote regrowth.
4. Harvesting
For cultivating edible fungi such as oyster mushrooms, lion's mane mushrooms, nameko mushrooms, straw mushrooms, button mushrooms and brown mushrooms, harvest 3-4 times a year. For cultivating shiitake mushrooms, wood ear mushrooms, reishi mushrooms, etc., it is advisable to harvest 2 times a year. For use as bioenergy, harvest 1-3 times a year.
King grass can also be used to feed cattle (pasture grass for cattle raising), sheep (pasture grass for sheep raising), pigs, geese, rabbits and other herbivorous livestock and poultry, as well as grass carp. The Fujian Provincial King Grass Engineering Association has conducted experimental planting in many countries in Africa and in 21 regions in China including Hainan, Fujian, Zhejiang and Ningxia, all achieving success, and has mastered the planting and management methods for giant king grass under different soil and climate conditions.
