In addition, the whole wild rice stem plant is also a wintering site for fish, an excellent feed, and a plant that consolidates land and builds land. So now how much is the price of wild rice stem per jin? What are the key planting techniques?

II. What are the key planting techniques for wild rice stem?

1. Soil cultivation

Wild rice stem has strong adaptability and does not have strict requirements for soil; generally, paddy fields can be used for planting, but fields that are sheltered from wind and face the sun, convenient for drainage and irrigation, and have loose and fertile soil are preferable. Before planting, water cultivation and water leveling should be carried out, and base fertilizer should be applied; generally, 3500-4000 kg of green manure or barnyard manure per mu, or 3000-4000 kg of farmyard manure, should be applied, crushed and leveled so that the mud is rotten, the fertilizer is sufficient, and the ground is level, and the field ridges should be packed firmly to strictly prevent water and fertilizer leakage. After exposure to the sun for several days, irrigate with shallow water of about 3 cm in preparation for planting.

2. Seed selection and seedling raising

Wild rice stem can be propagated by tillering, but its varietal characteristics are prone to variation, so mother seeds must be selected and retained every year. The standard for excellent mother plants is uniform growth, relatively short plants, dense clustered tillering, and plump and tender stem flesh. After selecting the seed plants, mark them well; in the following spring, when the seedlings are more than 30 cm tall, dig them out with mud, then split them into several pieces, and divide them into small clumps accordingly, with 5-7 plants per clump. When splitting, minimize damage to the flower stems; after dividing the clumps, cut the leaves short to about 60 cm to reduce water evaporation and facilitate survival after transplanting.

3. Field planting

For field planting, choose a time when the temperature is stable between 15-20 degrees, generally carried out in May. Single-crop wild rice stem needs a growth period of 100-120 days before stem formation; tillering begins 20-30 days after field planting, and in that year 10 effective tillers can be produced. At field planting, the planting density should be 60-100 cm between rows and 25-30 cm between plants, preferably in wide and narrow rows, with two rows as one group, and planting should be done as digging proceeds.

4. Fertilizer and water management

Wild rice stem has a long growth period and many tillers, so it requires a large amount of fertilizer. In addition, since one planting can allow multiple harvests, base fertilizer and topdressing should be given equal importance, with a total of 4-5 topdressings. Apply seedling-promoting fertilizer 7-10 days after planting; seedling fertilizer should be applied thinly, generally 500-1000 kg of clear manure water per mu, to promote seedling growth without burning the seedlings. Half a month later, apply 10-15 kg of urea once more, then stop fertilizing to avoid excessive growth. After that, it enters the tillering stage; from July to September it enters the stem formation stage, and when the wild rice shoots begin to enlarge, apply 3000-4000 kg of concentrated manure water and 20-25 kg of urea per mu at that time; afterward, fertilization should be determined according to specific conditions.

5. Harvesting

Wild rice stem matures unevenly, and is generally harvested every other day. The standard for maturity is that the stem-bearing part is noticeably swollen, one side of the leaf sheath splits open, and the stem flesh is slightly exposed. When harvesting, cut about 10 cm below the wild rice stem, cut off the leaves from the white-eye part of the wild rice stem, leave about 30 cm of leaf tips, and put them into cattail bags.
