Insecticides refer to chemical preparations used to control pests, mainly drugs for controlling agricultural pests and urban sanitary pests, with a long history of use, large dosage, and many varieties. So how to correctly use insecticides? What agents can be chosen in hot and rainy weather?

1. How to correctly use insecticides?

1. According to the climate characteristics and the day-night activity patterns of pests, choose a favorable time to apply the pesticide.

The suitable time for applying pesticides is from 9 to 10 a.m. and after 4 p.m. This is because after 9 a.m., the dew on crop leaves has dried, and it is also the time when diurnal pests are most active.

Applying the pesticide at this time will not dilute the pesticide solution with dew and affect the control effect, and can also allow pests to come into direct contact with the pesticide, increasing the chance of pests being poisoned.

After 4 p.m., the sun leans to the west, light weakens, temperature drops, and it is exactly the time when flying pests are active at dusk and nocturnal pests are about to emerge. Applying the pesticide at this time can apply the agent to crops in advance.

When pests come out to move or feed at dusk and at night, they will contact the poison liquid or feed on it and die from poisoning. At the same time, it can also avoid loss from evaporation of the pesticide solution and failure due to photolysis.

2. According to the damage site of the pests, choose different agents and adopt different application methods to deliver the pesticide to the right place.

For example, for pests that damage the roots, pour the pesticide onto the roots or apply it in the sowing furrow; for pests that feed on the underside of leaves, spray the pesticide solution on the reverse side of the leaves.

To control the pink bollworm and cotton bollworm, spray the pesticide onto flower buds, green bolls and terminal buds; to control borers causing deadheart seedlings, scatter poisoned soil; to control white heads, spray or splash.

To control rice planthoppers and rice leafhoppers, spray the pesticide solution onto the base of rice plants; to control the tobacco cutworm, spray the pesticide solution onto flower buds and young pods.

In addition, for concealed pests such as cotton aphids, red spiders, rice planthoppers and rice leafhoppers, according to their piercing-sucking mouthpart feeding method, insecticides with strong systemic action can be selected so that after absorption they are transported by the plant to other parts, achieving the purpose of delivering the pesticide to the right place.

Only by applying pesticides according to the pest and delivering the pesticide to the right place can you hit the vital point, achieve the effect of eliminating pests upon application, let the agent play its best role, and obtain an ideal insecticidal effect.

2. What agents can be chosen in hot and rainy weather?

1. Fast-acting pesticides. For example, among insecticides, pesticides such as Yechongjing, fenitrothion, decis, Kuaishaling and deltamethrin have strong contact and fumigant action, and can kill pests 1 to 2 hours or 4 to 5 hours after application.

2. Systemic pesticides. Systemic pesticides can enter the plant body through parts such as roots, stems and leaves, and be transported to other parts, taking effect in a relatively short time. For example, fungicidal and insecticidal agents such as fenbuconazole, triadimefon and Kuangsha, after application, 80% of the active ingredient is absorbed into the plant tissues within 4 to 5 hours, and the pesticide activity is less likely to be lost due to rain leaching.

3. Microbial active pesticides. Commonly used microbial pesticides include Qingchongjun and Beauveria bassiana. Under high humidity conditions, their spores are more likely to germinate and reproduce. Applying such pesticides on rainy days can give fuller play to their insect-killing effect.

4. Rain-resistant fungicides. Validamycin and Miebingwei, Sukeling and others have good rain resistance. Even if there is a shower 1 to 5 hours after application, they will not be washed off and affect the efficacy.
