How Many Pigs Can One Person Raise? A Full Breakdown of Pig Farming Profits
Pig farming is an important pillar industry in rural areas, and people are very fond of pork. However, as the pig farming industry gradually shifts to modernized rearing models, productivity has increased substantially. So how many pigs can one person raise? How much money can pig farming make?
1. How many pigs can one person raise?
Judging by the level of modernization and the scale of the pig farm, if all work is done manually, the normal labor intensity for one stockperson is raising 150 to 200 market pigs. If the pig farm is large enough and has automatic drinking, automatic feeding and automatic manure cleaning, each stockperson can manage more than 2000 market pigs. However, raising and breeding pigs on your own involves many difficulties, especially when the sows are farrowing.
2. Profit from raising 1 pig by self-breeding and self-raising
1. Sow cost: calculated at 5 jin of feed per head per day. The feed used for sows is cheap: 365 days a year * 5 * 0.9 yuan/jin = 1642 yuan. Add about 100 yuan for epidemic prevention or some other expenses, and count it as at most 2000 yuan. A sow gives birth to about 2 litters a year, with an average of 10 piglets per litter. If calculated at 8, the cost of one piglet is 2000 yuan (annual cost of the sow) / 16 = 125 yuan/head.
2. Feed cost: before 30 jin, piglets generally eat creep feed. Calculated at 2 yuan per jin, they are basically still in the suckling period before 30 jin. It is almost one jin of feed for one jin of growth. Calculated at 1.2 jin of feed per jin of growth, the cost for a piglet to reach 30 jin is 30 * 1.2 * 2 = 72 yuan; if calculated at 80 yuan. From 30 jin to 200 jin, finishing pigs eat compound feed. Theoretically, the average feed-to-meat ratio is 3:1, meaning that going from 30 jin to 200 jin uses 510 jin of feed. Even at a poor pig farm, 600 jin of feed is enough to reach 200 jin. At 1.1 yuan per jin, eating 600 jin of feed costs 660 yuan. In other words, raising one pig from birth to 200 jin costs 660 + 80 = 740 yuan.
3. Profit analysis: 125 yuan (cost of the sow giving birth to the piglet) + 740 yuan = 865 yuan. At a market price of 7 yuan per jin, the profit is 7 yuan * 200 jin = 1400 yuan - cost 865 yuan = 535 yuan/head. Self-breeding and self-raising 1 pig can earn 535 yuan.
3. Profit from raising 1 piglet
1. Piglet cost: calculated at 50 jin for the piglets brought in (piglets like this are about the same price as larger pigs, calculated at 8 yuan per jin), 50 * 8 yuan = 400 yuan cost. In fact, piglets of about 10 jin are the most expensive, possibly around 12 yuan, but only 120 yuan per head, and the cost of feeding them to 50 jin is even lower.
2. Feed cost: from 50 to 200 jin for slaughter uses at most 550 jin of feed, that is 550 * 1.1 yuan/jin = 605 yuan cost.
3. Profit analysis: the total cost is 350 + 605 yuan = 955 yuan, and the profit is 1400 yuan from selling a 200 jin finished pig - 955 yuan = 445 yuan. Although the profit is a bit less than self-breeding and self-raising, raising them this way can definitely reach slaughter in 4 months. Because the piglets brought in are 50 jin, one more batch of pigs can be raised each year.
In modern farms, one person can raise many market pigs, and the combined profit is very high. Large farms can effectively improve efficiency.
