Pineapple tastes sweet and sour, is rich in vitamins, and is deeply loved by consumers. Besides eating pineapple directly, it can also be processed into canned pineapple, dried pineapple, pineapple rice, and so on, with a unique taste. Let us take a look below at how much a jin of pineapple costs in 2020? What are the planting and management technical points?

I. How much is a jin of pineapple in 2020?

In January 2020, the price of pineapple was roughly 1.5-5 yuan per jin, with certain differences among regions. According to relevant websites, we can learn that recent pineapple price changes in various regions are as follows:

The pineapple price at the Siqing Agricultural Products Wholesale Market in Bayannur is 5 yuan per jin;

The pineapple price at the Dayang Road Agricultural and Sideline Products Wholesale Market in Chaoyang District, Beijing is 1.5 yuan per jin;

The pineapple price at the Beijing Dayang Road Agricultural and Sideline Products Wholesale Market is 2.25 yuan per jin;

The pineapple price at the Jiangnan Agricultural and Sideline Products Market in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province is 1.7 yuan per jin;

The pineapple price at the Tianxian Fruit Agricultural Trade Wholesale Market in Handan (Weixian), Hebei is 1.5 yuan per jin.

II. What are the pineapple planting and management technical points?

1. Weeding

After the temperature rises in spring, promptly remove all kinds of weeds in the pineapple orchard as well as the leaves and plants that withered after frost damage in winter, and gather them outside the orchard to bury deeply or burn, so as to make the pineapple orchard well ventilated, breathable, and light-transmitting, which is beneficial for the pineapple plants to recover growth and also eliminates breeding places for pests and diseases.

2. Loosening the soil

After clearing the orchard and weeding, shallowly cultivate the soil around the pineapple plants by 10-15 cm, so as to loosen and aerate the soil, promote root activity, produce new roots early and abundantly, and grow vigorously, prompting the absorption of enough nutrients and water to supply the pineapple plants for rapid growth.

3. Fertilizing

After loosening the soil, apply fertilizer promptly once, mainly high-quality organic fertilizer and a complete nitrogen-phosphorus-potassium fertilizer. Apply 80-100 grams of decomposed peanut cake fertilizer or tea seed cake fertilizer per plant, and 40-50 grams of nitrogen-phosphorus-potassium compound fertilizer, mixed with 8-10 kg of clear water or decomposed human and livestock manure water or biogas slurry, and pour it on. After that, apply fertilizer once every 15-20 days, mainly quick-acting nitrogen fertilizer and potassium fertilizer, applying 40-50 grams each of urea and potassium chloride per plant each time, broadcast after rain or dissolved in water and poured on, evenly wetting all leaves, with the appropriate amount being when water droplets begin to flow from the growth point toward the leaf axils.

4. Earthing up

After the first fertilizing, apply decomposed composted waste fertilizer, pond mud, burned soil, or other mixed soil fertilizer around the pineapple plants, applying 4-5 kg per plant, about 8-10 cm thick. For plants that have already harvested winter fruit, earth should be piled up to where the new suckers grow, so as to cover the exposed root mass, thicken the topsoil layer, enrich the soil, protect the root system, and ensure vigorous root growth.

5. Water supply

After the temperature rises in spring, if there is sufficient water supply, the pineapple plants can grow rapidly and quickly send out leaves, so clear water should be poured once every 3-5 days, about 4-6 kg per plant each time, or the whole orchard should be irrigated once every 5-6 days with “running horse water”, irrigating and draining quickly to prevent water accumulation and keep the soil moist.

6. Mulching

In spring, dry rice straw or other weeds should promptly be used to cover the pineapple bed surface, with grass about 5-6 cm thick, so as to reduce water evaporation, keep the soil moist, ensure water supply, stabilize and raise soil temperature, promote new root growth, and reduce weed growth, which is beneficial for the pineapple plants to grow rapidly.

7. Removing suckers

As the temperature rises in spring and the pineapple plants resume normal growth, suckers should be removed promptly. For plants that have not flowered or fruited, all suckers should be removed, keeping only the main plant. For plants that have already flowered and fruited, choose and keep one robust sucker with a low position, reasonable distribution, correct bud position, and no pest or disease damage as the successor sucker, and remove all the rest, so as to reduce unnecessary nutrient consumption and concentrate nutrients to supply the plant's growth needs.
