Common varieties of red tip photinia include Red Robin and Red Lips, and Red Robin has stronger leaf ornamental value and more vivid color. Below, let us take a look at the introduction to red tip photinia prices and planting methods.

I. Red Tip Photinia Prices

The price of red tip photinia is roughly 8-400 yuan per plant, and the price is affected by many factors, such as the height, crown width, ground diameter, and variety of the red tip photinia. For red tip photinia with a height of 40-60cm and a crown width of 25-40cm, the price is 8-11 yuan per plant; for red tip photinia with a height of 60cm and a crown width of 40-50cm, the price is 12-15 yuan per plant; for red tip photinia with a height of 70cm and a crown width of 50-60cm, the price is 16-18 yuan per plant; for red tip photinia with a height of 80cm and a crown width of 60-70cm, the price is 28-35 yuan per plant; for red tip photinia with a height of 100cm and a crown width of 80cm, the price is 28-35 yuan per plant; for red tip photinia with a height of 120cm and a crown width of 150cm, the price is 120-140 yuan per plant.

II. Red Tip Photinia Planting Methods

1. Selection and purchase of seedlings

When buying seedlings, choose a supplier with a good reputation that can provide high-quality after-sales service, so as to ensure a pure variety and reduce production risks.

2. Selection and preparation of nursery land

The soil of the planting site is preferably fertile, loose, and slightly acidic to neutral, with convenient irrigation and good drainage. Before planting, apply 3000 kg of decomposed farmyard manure and 50 kg of superphosphate per mu, and plow the soil to a depth of more than 25 cm; use insecticides to control underground pests. Before leveling the soil, after plowing, open drainage ditches and make seedbeds, with a bed surface width of about 1m.

3. Transplanting seedlings

This is generally done in spring from March to April and in autumn from October to November, usually determined by local climatic conditions. The planting spacing is determined according to the time left in the nursery and the cultivation goal. For annual small shrubs cultivated according to plan for sale, a plant and row spacing of 35cm×35cm or 40cm×40cm is suitable, about 3000 plants per mu. When transplanting seedlings, carefully remove the packaging or take off the nutrient pot, ensure the root soil ball remains intact, and dig holes at fixed points; pile fine soil at the roots, spread the root system, and press gently. After planting, water thoroughly in time to settle the roots.

4. Cultivation management

Water once 3-4 days after transplanting, and then water about once every 10 days; if there is continuous rainy weather, drain water in time. After about 15 days, once the seedlings have passed the recovery period, fertilizer can be applied. In spring, apply about 5 kg of urea per mu every half month; in summer and autumn, apply compound fertilizer once every half month, 5 kg per mu; in winter, apply decomposed organic fertilizer once, 1500 kg per mu, preferably by digging trenches and burying it. Fertilization should follow the principle of applying thin fertilizer frequently, and the amount should not be too large at one time, so as to avoid damaging roots and burning seedlings. Usually, weed and loosen the soil in time.

5. Pest and disease control

Red tip photinia has strong disease resistance, and no devastating pests or diseases have been found. However, if management is improper or the nursery environment is poor, gray mold, leaf spot, or damage by scale insects may occur. Gray mold can be prevented by spraying with a 1000-fold solution of 50% carbendazim, and during the onset period it can be controlled by spraying with an 800-fold solution of 50% zineb. Leaf spot can be controlled with a 300-400-fold solution of 50% carbendazim or a 300-400-fold solution of thiophanate. Scale insects can be sprayed with a 200-fold solution of dimethoate emulsion or a 800-1000-fold solution.

6. Leaving the nursery

When the young seedlings grow to the specifications required for landscaping, they can leave the nursery. One week before leaving the nursery, water thoroughly once, as this helps with lifting the seedlings. When lifting the seedlings, make the soil ball as large as possible and wrap it with water-soaked straw. Finished seedlings are stacked in order in bundles of 5 or 10 plants, piled on the transport vehicle and covered with a tarpaulin.
