There are many varieties of chili pepper, some with high pungency and some with low pungency. It is a nutritious green vegetable and is grown in every part of our country. Whether stir-fried plain or used as a seasoning, chili pepper tastes very good, and it can also cut through greasiness and enrich everyone's taste buds. So how much was chili pepper per jin in 2020? Fertilisation tips attached.

1. How much was chili pepper per jin in 2020?

In January 2020 chili pepper prices rose and fell, ranging roughly from 1.5-5 yuan per jin, and were affected by factors such as variety, place of origin, market conditions and purchasing channel. According to relevant websites we can learn that:

At the Zhuangtouying vegetable wholesale market in Beipiao City, Liaoning Province, the chili pepper price is 1.4 yuan per jin;

At the vegetable and fruit wholesale trading market in Shaoxing City, Zhejiang Province, the chili pepper price is 5 yuan per jin;

At the Xinjiang Haibao International Agricultural Products Logistics and Trade City, the chili pepper price is 2 yuan per jin;

At the Lunan vegetable wholesale market in Cangshan, Shandong, the chili pepper price is 3.6 yuan per jin.

2. Chili pepper fertilisation tips

There are many kinds of chili pepper varieties. If one fertiliser combination were to be applied across the board, it would clearly not fit reality. In addition, the fertility status of each field differs, so the nutrient requirements naturally differ as well. Therefore the fertiliser amounts discussed today can only serve as a reference, and everyone can choose to increase or decrease the amount according to their own field conditions and different chili pepper varieties.

1. Apply organic fertiliser heavily. For older greenhouses, some enzyme bacterial fertiliser type biological organic fertiliser can be added. For greenhouses with severe soil-borne diseases (especially damping-off/wilt diseases), some Bacillus-type biological organic fertiliser should be added.

2. Choose chemical fertilisers reasonably. When chemical fertilisers are used as base fertiliser, try to choose single-element fertilisers such as urea, superphosphate and potassium sulfate. When topdressing with compound fertiliser, try to choose compound fertiliser containing nitrate nitrogen. Applying Zhengen at the seedling, transplanting and planting stages makes rooting fast and root hairs numerous, which can shorten the reviving time of chili pepper and increase the seedlings' resistance to adverse environments. It improves chili pepper's continuous fruit-setting ability, reduces flower drop, raises yield and enhances quality.

3. Distribute the ratio of base fertiliser and topdressing reasonably. In general, organic fertiliser, micro-fertiliser, 80% of the phosphorus fertiliser, 50% of the potassium fertiliser and 30% of the nitrogen fertiliser are mixed evenly and used as base fertiliser, while the remaining 70% of the nitrogen fertiliser, 20% of the phosphorus fertiliser and 50% of the potassium fertiliser are used as topdressing respectively. For some trace elements such as borax, foliar spraying can be used.

4. The chili pepper root system is a relatively weak crop root system. After the chili pepper roots are pulled out of the soil, it can be clearly seen that the roots mainly surround the plant base, about the size of a fist. If the fertiliser goes beyond this range, it can rarely be captured by the chili pepper, so we should concentrate fertilisation at the chili pepper roots to improve fertiliser use efficiency.

5. Apply seedling-promoting fertiliser lightly. The seedling-promoting fertiliser should be applied when watering at chili pepper transplanting, and 5-10 kg of compound fertiliser per mu is appropriate.

6. Apply flower bud fertiliser steadily. Flower bud fertiliser is applied when chili pepper is budding. Since this is the period when chili pepper shifts from vegetative growth to reproductive growth, if the fertiliser is excessive, the chili pepper will grow leggy; if the fertiliser is insufficient, the chili pepper will bloom too little and cannot set so many fruits, which will certainly affect yield. Therefore fertilisation at this time must be steady, and 20 kg of 15-15-15 compound fertiliser plus 5 kg of superphosphate can be used.
