Potted peach blossoms are about to burst into bloom: key points for planting and care
Spring has already arrived, and peach blossoms are about to burst into bloom. Nowadays quite a few people grow potted peach blossoms at home, so they can admire the brilliant splendor of peach blossoms right at home. The following key points for planting and caring for peach blossoms are worth noting. Let's take a look.
1. Planting time
It is best to pot it in spring, just as it begins to sprout, or after autumn. At these two times, its growth rate is relatively slow, so after planting and potting it takes root and survives very easily. When choosing potted peach saplings, select saplings with plenty of roots that are relatively sturdy for planting.
2. Preparing the pot and soil
Prepare a somewhat larger flower pot, at least 30 cm in diameter and more than 20 cm deep, so that it favors the growth of the peach roots. Before potting, check whether the bottom of the pot has drainage holes and whether the drainage holes are unobstructed; you can also line it with some broken tiles or similar items.
When planting, straighten out all the roots, and use loose, fertile, well-draining and airy soil for the pot; you can add humus soil, leaf mold or nutrient soil, and you can also add some coal cinders or coarse sand. After planting, water once thoroughly, which is also called the settling water.
3. Pruning
Peach blossoms should also be pruned promptly after flowering each year. Prune the old flowers, keep 2-3 buds, and make sure the buds grow outward; cut off forked branches, parallel branches, overlapping branches, opposite branches, immature branches and overly dense thin twigs. When pruning, take care to cut off dead branches and rotted leaves, as this favors the growth and development of the peach tree.
4. Fertilizing
If you want a potted peach tree to bear plenty of fruit, you need to supply enough nutrients. Because the nutrients in a flower pot are limited, you must fertilize in time. Before fruiting, you can fertilize once every 15 days, and after fruiting, fertilize once every 10 days; you can use fermented cake fertilizer water or fully rotted chicken manure fertilizer water for watering. Cake fertilizer water contains sufficient nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium, which can make it grow better.
5. Watering
Peach blossoms are relatively sensitive to moisture. If the soil in the pot stays too wet for a long time, it can easily cause the peach tree to rot. Therefore, it is necessary to control watering. When new branches grow to 20 cm, watering must be controlled to restrain excessive elongation of the new branches and promote flower bud differentiation. However, in summer it should be watered once a day, in autumn it should be kept moist, and in winter it should be kept dry.
Growing a pot of peach blossoms at home is very attractive, and peach blossoms symbolize love and the hope for a beautiful life, so planting peach blossoms can boost one's romantic luck and bring harmony and happiness in love in the new year.
