How to manage wheat in the late stage? Anhui Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs issues guidance
To the agriculture and rural affairs bureaus of all cities and counties (cities, districts) in wheat-producing areas, and relevant units under the department:
At present, wheat across the province is in the grain-filling and kernel-setting stage, which is the key period for wheat yield formation. In order to strive for a high-quality bumper harvest of this year's summer grain, the following notice is hereby issued on doing a good job in late-stage wheat production management:
First, continue to do a good job in late-stage field management. All localities should carefully analyze the impact of the high-temperature weather in early May and the recent rainy, windy weather on wheat production, pay close attention to future weather changes, focus on root maintenance, leaf protection and prevention of premature senescence, guide farmers in doing a good job in late-stage foliar fertilization, and carry out “one spray, multiple prevention” in a timely manner. The 5 spring agricultural production service guidance groups arranged by our department will continue to perform their duties, supervise and guide all localities in doing a good job in late-stage wheat field management.
Second, actively carry out evaluation of Fusarium head blight control efficacy. This year, all localities have invested heavily and made great efforts in the prevention and control of wheat Fusarium head blight. The final effect must be tested through evaluation. All localities should organize and arrange the evaluation of Fusarium head blight control efficacy, and comprehensively summarize experience and lessons. Recently, our department, together with Anhui Agricultural University and the Anhui Academy of Agricultural Sciences, will organize relevant experts to carry out investigations and evaluations of the occurrence and prevention and control of wheat Fusarium head blight in all cities.
Third, implement production-marketing linkage for specialty wheat. All localities should focus on the 22.98 million mu of large-scale contiguous high-quality specialty wheat, especially the production-marketing linkage of 307 single-variety planting units of more than 10,000 mu each, formulate targeted work plans, implement key measures, and promptly solve difficulties and problems encountered. It is necessary to give full play to the role of the country's first high-quality specialty wheat planting map, guide various grain-using entities to “find wheat” according to the map based on demand, implement production-marketing linkage for high-quality specialty wheat, and ensure that on the basis of single-variety planting, single harvesting, single storage and single processing are achieved, and that good grain sells at a good price. It is necessary to innovate publicity methods, actively publicize and report the good experiences, good measures and good models of production-marketing linkage for high-quality specialty wheat in all localities, and strive to create a favorable public opinion atmosphere.
Fourth, make arrangements for summer harvest work as early as possible. All localities should adapt to local conditions, promptly formulate specific work plans for rapid wheat harvest according to local wheat planting area, weather, machinery distribution and other conditions, organize fuel sources well, carry out machinery maintenance and operator training well, and make preparations for mechanical harvesting. It is necessary to do a good job in organization and scheduling, promptly open green channels for cross-regional agricultural machinery operations and dedicated refueling channels for agricultural machinery, and promote orderly rapid harvesting. It is necessary to strengthen the investigation of operational accidents and the rectification of hidden dangers, ensure production safety, smooth transfer and standardized operations, and strive to basically complete the province's rapid wheat harvest task in about 10 days. It is necessary to promptly dry the grain in the sun or by mechanical drying before storage, avoid the impact of rainy weather on yield, prevent wheat mycotoxin levels from exceeding standards due to moisture, and strive to improve the commercial quality of summer grain.
