At the Caocun Amy Modern Agricultural Industrial Park in Rui'an, Zhejiang, you will find that few farmers are working the land; it is generally machines that operate. You may also see a highly technological agricultural production scene that is remarkable——three drones flying low to carry out operations, with over a hundred mu of rice seedlings growing well. Now “5G+Artificial Intelligence technology (AI)” will be used more and more widely in farmland, and agriculture has entered the AI era.

According to relevant personnel, the Caocun Amy Modern Agricultural Industrial Park uses AI technology as its means, and by using related smart technologies it has built a farmland digitisation system; using big data, cloud computing and AI technology, it has established an intelligent management and decision-making system for the entire rice-growing process; farmers only need to adjust the operation of the machines. This greatly reduces the farmers' workload, and can also make crops grow well and yields good.

Up to now, 120 mu of rice fields in this industrial park already have 5G signal coverage, and the “5G+Smart Agriculture” project has officially been launched. After experiencing the launch of this project, the staff all exclaimed in admiration: network transmission is faster and more stable, and the captured field information is more accurate.

In the farmland of the past, we only planted crops well and managed pests and diseases; but now it is different. After the launch of 5G applications, comprehensive data collection can be carried out across sky, land and air. Field data is directly preliminarily analysed in the cloud and then transmitted to the farmland brain system, so data transmission efficiency and data analysis accuracy will be greatly improved. The growth and production of crops are getting better and better.

The implementation of 5G in smart agriculture has not yet been fully promoted, and its role in smart agriculture has not yet been fully demonstrated. But in the near future, 5G smart agriculture will open up the path of exploration for the entire agricultural industry chain of “production-management-sales-service.” Are you looking forward to the arrival of the agricultural “AI” era?
