Flowers & Gardening By Emily Carter 0 views

The process flow and technical key points in the production and processing of bay laurel essential oil are as follows:

(1) Spray a carrier agent amounting to 0.3-0.5% of the weight of fresh bay laurel flowers into the fresh bay laurel flowers, then add the fresh bay laurel flowers into an extraction vessel, and carry out continuous cyclic extraction with supercritical carbon dioxide fluid, controlling the extraction vessel temperature at 35-40 degrees C, the extraction pressure at 18-22MPa, the flow rate at 16-18kg/h, and the extraction time at 2-4h; the carrier agent consists of the following components in parts by mass: 65-70 parts ethanol, 0.1-0.3 parts diethyl ether, 0.4-0.6 parts petroleum ether;

(2) Pass the carbon dioxide fluid after extraction into a separator for separation, with a carbon dioxide fluid flow rate of 12-15kg/h, a separator pressure of 6-7MPa, and a temperature of 35-40 degrees C, extracting for 1.5-2.5h, discharging the extract from the bottom of the separator, and after standing, obtaining bay laurel essential oil through oil-water separation.

2. The method according to claim 1, characterized in that: the steps are as follows:

(1) Spray a carrier agent amounting to 0.5% of the weight of fresh bay laurel flowers into the fresh bay laurel flowers, then add the fresh bay laurel flowers into an extraction vessel, and carry out continuous cyclic extraction with supercritical carbon dioxide fluid, controlling the extraction vessel temperature at 38 degrees C, the extraction pressure at 20MPa, the flow rate at 17kg/h, and the extraction time at 3h; the carrier agent consists of the following components in parts by mass: 68 parts ethanol, 0.2 parts diethyl ether, 0.5 parts petroleum ether;

(2) Pass the carbon dioxide fluid after extraction into a separator for separation, with a carbon dioxide fluid flow rate of 12kg/h, a separator pressure of 6.5MPa, and a temperature of 38 degrees C, extracting for 2h, discharging the extract from the bottom of the separator, and after standing, obtaining bay laurel essential oil through oil-water separation.

Is bay laurel the same as osmanthus

Osmanthus includes bay laurel.

  1. Bay laurel (Laurus nobilis), a species in the genus Laurus of the family Lauraceae, is a subtropical tree species [1]. It is an evergreen small tree or shrub, with an oval crown, relatively low branching, green branchlets, and fragrance throughout. The leaves are alternate, leathery, broadly lanceolate, with wavy margins and a mellow fragrance. The flowers are unisexual, with male and female flowers on separate plants, and umbels clustered in the leaf axils, with small pale yellow flowers. The drupe is elliptical and spherical, turning purplish brown when ripe. The flowering period is March-May, and the fruit ripening period is June-September.

  2. Osmanthus (scientific name: Osmanthus fragrans (Thunb.) Lour.): also known as muxi or yangui, it is an evergreen shrub or small tree in the family Oleaceae, with hard texture and thin bark, and leaves that are long elliptical with pointed tips, opposite, and remaining throughout winter without falling. The flowers grow in the leaf axils, with a gamopetalous corolla split into four lobes, and are small in shape. Its varieties include Jingu osmanthus, Yingu osmanthus, Dangui osmanthus, Yuegui osmanthus, and others.
