What are the methods for identifying neroli essential oil?
Neroli essential oil can be tested and identified using the following methods
(1) Check the price
In the distillation process of genuinely pure essential oil, no chemical agents may be added, so the price is usually not too cheap. Generally speaking, a 10 ml bottle of essential oil costs at least 150~200 yuan. Flower-petal essential oils that are difficult to extract, such as rose and others, cost even more. Therefore, low-priced essential oil means it may be adulterated with synthetic chemical fragrances or cannot be classified as therapeutic grade.
It is recommended that you buy from regular large shopping malls or professional beauty institutions. If some essential oils claimed to be imported are even cheaper than domestic ones, then their authenticity speaks for itself.
(2) Check the usage
Except for a few varieties such as lavender, the vast majority of pure essential oils cannot be applied directly to the skin, otherwise they will cause burns and peeling. If a seller tells you that the essential oil can be applied directly to the skin and also claims it is pure essential oil, then there is a problem. Be sure to distinguish the difference between carrier oil and essential oil; some carrier oils sold under the name of essential oil have indeed fooled quite a few people.
(3) Smell the scent
The sense of smell is a very remarkable human function. Thousands upon thousands of "receptors" hidden in the nose capture subtle odor molecules in the air and transmit these "captured sensations" through the nervous system, storing them in special areas of the brain.
Most pure essential oils have a soft and mellow scent. Because they are 100% extracted from plants, pure essential oils all have an indescribable natural plant scent (although the smell is not necessarily pleasant). Essential oils blended with synthetic fragrance have a slightly pungent smell, and long-term use of such essential oils brings only harm and no benefit. When first inhaled, the scent is not very strong, but it has a lingering quality, and as it reaches the back of the head it gives a feeling of the open wilderness. Everyone perceives it differently, and its top note, middle note and base note are all different.
