Taichung Poultry Marketing Cooperative used 12 products containing Ting Hsin Vietnamese butter and needed to voluntarily take them off the shelves for preventive measures, but falsely used the CAS certification mark, and the Council of Agriculture
Following yesterday's precautionary voluntary removal from shelves of 19 Uni-President instant noodle products whose sauce packets used Ting Hsin Vietnamese beef tallow, the Food and Drug Administration of the Ministry of Health and Welfare announced a new wave of other products this morning, among which the 12 products from the "Guaranteed Responsibility Taiwan Province Taichung Poultry Marketing Cooperative" (hereinafter referred to as the "Taichung Poultry Marketing Cooperative") were the most numerous.
12 New Downstream Products of Ting Hsin Beef Tallow Added
Although the "Taichung Poultry Marketing Cooperative" voluntarily reported its products for precautionary removal from shelves, a related case arose involving the suspected fraudulent use of the CAS mark. The cooperative used the CAS mark on its official website, leading people to mistakenly believe that all its products had obtained CAS certification, when in fact only frozen chicken-related products had passed CAS certification.
Zhu Qingcheng, deputy director of the Livestock Division of the Council of Agriculture, emphasized that the CAS mark only certifies products, not the entire plant. The operator's use of the CAS mark on its official website was suspected of misleading consumers. The section chief in charge of the relevant affairs has been instructed to conduct an investigation, and if violations are found, they will be handled in accordance with the Agricultural Production and Certification Management Act.
The 12 products that the Taichung Poultry Marketing Cooperative voluntarily removed from shelves on a precautionary basis, as announced by the Food and Drug Administration of the Ministry of Health and Welfare this morning, are: Bomb Chicken Drumsticks (original and spicy), Kara Chicken Drumstick Burgers (original and spicy), Cooked Kara Chicken Drumstick Burgers (original and spicy), Corn Milk Crisps (heart-shaped), Zheng Dian Chicken Nuggets (original and black pepper), Zheng Dian Kara Ding (original and spicy), and Lemon Chicken Tenders. Jiang Yumei, acting director-general of the Food and Drug Administration, stated that these products used Ting Hsin Vietnamese beef tallow, and the operator proactively reported them to the local health bureau for voluntary removal from shelves.
