Beer Brewed with Tea Aroma from Taiwan, China Stuns the International Stage and Wins a Grand Prize
You think beer can only be drunk ice-cold? You think beer can only be paired with fruit? The local craft beer brand "Beer Head," just founded last year, boldly put Taiwan tea and Pingtung cacao beans into beer, and also launched 7 seasonal solar-term beers in step with the solar terms, turning spring-harvested oolong tea into "Grain Rain" beer, summer-harvested Oriental Beauty tea into "Start of Autumn," and winter tea Tieguanyin blended with Belgian dubbel into "Start of Winter." The latter two beers must not be drunk below 12°C, or the tea aroma will be completely lost. Such delicate creativity breaks Taiwanese people's traditional understanding of beer.
With Taiwan's fine tea added to the brewing, last year Beer Head won a bronze medal in experimental beer and a silver medal in American pale ale at the "International Beer Cup (IBC)" hosted by Japan, a competition with as many as 750 beers from strong craft breweries across Asia, proving that local brewing has the strength to stand on the international stage.
