Taichung Liming Elementary School offers a green food education course, teaching both growing vegetables and cooking
Beside the school gate of Liming Elementary School in Nantun District, Taichung, there is a vegetable garden. Before you even step into the school, you can see a large patch of rapeseed. During break time, two or three students often come to the garden to water or pull up vegetables. On the day the reporter visited, several sixth-grade boys and girls were busy pulling vegetables in the garden, and the bags in each student's hands were bulging. One little boy shouted with abandon: "Pull vegetables to cook at home! Save money on vegetables!"
This vegetable garden is about one fen, nearly 300 ping in area. It has signs such as "Vegetable and Fruit Area" and "Entry Direction ->", and beside them are two large sacks of rice husk. Volunteer dad Zheng Yitian stood next to the "Vegetable and Fruit Area" sign and called himself the "area chief": "We are now nurturing the land, but it is not the kind of land nurturing where you leave the land there and wait for one million to become two million. We want land with nutrients. Rapeseed and rice husk are both meant to give the land nutrients!"
With a one-fen vegetable garden, and such interesting students and parents, what kind of school is Liming Elementary School in Taichung exactly?
